Hi Claire, Do the doors actually open inwards into the room? How about considering place the bed in the center of the room facing the doors? You would disguise the back of the bed with a thin console table which have some dressing style storage (jewelry etc) and can hold some tall flowers and candles to set the mood on entering. There's lots of ways you can add the luxury feel you are looking but this would create real impact and make the bed the real feature of the space. If budget allows I would hang lights from the ceiling ad beside lights and layer up on dressing for an even more luxurious feel. I have attached one of my clients bedroom design (single room re-design package) to show you the hanging lighting idea - if this isn't possible then a well placed small chandelier style light would have a great effect on the space. What are the room's measurements?

Thanks for the replies so far. I do think I want at least a double but I will need to be flexible if the room is too small. I have attached the layout, it is labelled bedroom 2. As mentioned it is a small house in general, so I am not expecting much rent but I may as well rent it out. On a side note, I also would like to redecorate the rooms as the current laminate flooring is damaged. I was thinking of getting wool carpets as they make the room cosy and warmer whilst also reducing noise from downstairs. Any nice combo of colours for small rooms? Lastly, any ideas what to do with the tiny room (bedroom 3). Ideally want a single bed in their but it will rarely be used so would be great to find some way of making it a study with the occasional place for someone to sleep. It is tiny so that is asking for a lot!

Need more details and can you add some pics? Where is the front door? How do you access the kitchen from the reception room? What’s in the void beside bed2. An outside May help also.
