Comments (14)Hi again Jane. Any external changes, including windows, may require planning permission. If the property is a block of flats or mansion block this may be more of a challenge. You may have permitted development rights, which can be another good option. Any change, however small, is likely to be subject to a license to alter especially if there's a management company or a remote freeholder. This includes windows in any shape or form. As unreasonable as it may appear, The licensee / freeholder can quite legitimately sell you the space and the roof structure and then request a full license to alter application. It's also not a given that the you be awarded the license. Sorry if this comes across all doom and gloom. There usually ways design challenges. understanding all the risks as well as the potential is important....See MoreAdvice on floor plan - how to create a 3rd bedroom?
Comments (6)Hi Thanks everyone for taking the time to reply. Definitely food for thought! I've not got photos of the roof at the moment but we are going for a second viewing on Saturday so I'll take some then. In the meantime I've attached some of the pictures from the listing. Our favourite parts of the house are the original bits - the kitchen and lounge so I think opening up between the kitchen and lounge to create a kitchen/diner living space as Steph initially suggested would be good if its possible to remove the wall?! I think there would then be space for the dining room to be divided to provide a hall with perhaps utility storage adjacent to the bathroom and the extra bedroom we need. I've had a play around with the existing floorplan and come up with this - any comments (glaring obvious things I've missed!) would be so helpful. Once again, thanks!! Comments (4)I would paint the ceiling and walls the same, then go with the blue grey below. it could be the palest pink, off white, pale blue. I don’t think any more colours would be a good idea, but as suggested you can add more with bedding, cushions and art. Here’s a couple of pics I found of boat decor. Not all bedrooms, but I’m looking more at the colour combinations. Especially love the first one....See MoreToby Hayward
