I have white low sheen finish handless kitchen doors. I love them but here is the negatives I've found. The drawers had to be shallower as it had to accommodate the narrow panel that sits behind the top of the drawer front. They can be hard to open at times. I have 800mm wide soft close drawer runners and they can get heavy and it can be a work out on your fingertips. I don't have long as but I've been told they can knock your nails around a lot. And also the door handle area can also get knocked around a bit. I have 2 pack finish, so it's really tough but I've still seen a few tiny chips in 9 months use. It restricted the type of integrated dishwasher and fridge I wanted. I ended up with a semi integrated DW and handles on the fridge. The DW has a fin across the top to match the other cupboards Ive found them easy to keep clean though.

Fiona - I’ve been looking into replacing some doors with Crittal style and have contacted loads of suppliers and companies. The one that I’ve been most impressed with is the company mentioned above by Lou Valdini - Merlin Windows in Yorkshire. (I’m in the East Midlands). They gave me a competitive quote really quickly and then I got a quote from the fitter mentioned. (They fit across the UK and they link in with Merlin to ensure timings etc). It’s likely that we will go ahead in the next few months. (Just need to convince husband as he prefers chunky timber 😂)

Hi, I have 2 sets of bifold doors, one at 3.2m the other 5.5m. Somfy RF blinds inside which work really well using their remote controller. This summer though has meant the sun coming through the glass has created so much solar gain…green house effect that our large family room is around 35C. My problem is that my bifold door frame is just 35mm from the underside of the roof eaves so there is no room to put external roller blinds with cassettes to be able to keep the sun out. The only solution, other than changing the whole roof structure, is to have external quality ceiling hung curtain rails which are only 24mm in cross-section and hang pergola type UV resistant curtains which would need drawing each day and tying back at night. I know this will work but its seems a bit clunky and the curtains would need taking down from autumn to winter. Any other suggestions please? By the way this would cost around £600 to £800 self installed.

Hi! I studied architecture in Edinburgh! If this is not your longterm home and ensuring return on investment is important to you then I recommend getting some sketch designs and talking them through with local estate agents who are familiar with the local housing market. You could show them a couple of options and get their opinion on which is likely to get the higher resale value, or which is likely to sell quickest - sometimes you don't get a lot more money but it's a configuration that is more sought after so it sells faster, which can also be a benefit when you come to sell. Most of the work I do is creating more open plan living, this is the general trend and has been for the last 20 years or so. I redesigned my Edinburgh flat to have an open plan kitchen dining lounge and it sold for the highest price achieved in that tenement or that street, though I did get lucky selling at the height of a market bubble at the time. I have a free Design Your Home Vision Checklist that is a good place to start with a home redesign: https://www.i-architect.co.uk/dyhvchecklist.html Good luck with your project! Jane :)
