its a shame that you didn't go for upstands at the time - but its not the end of the World -its personal - but I do not like quartz going up the wall - glass would look much lighter and give a warmer feel to the room

So - either do a glass splashback and an upstand in glass -

or just put a piece of glass behind the hob and then pain the walls

Thanks, the other option could be instead of the spare quartz up the wall behind hob, I use it for the upstands (not enough to do both) and then add glass as the splashback behind the hob?

Sharon, that’s sounds a brilliant solution. I’d definitely put glass behind the hob.

If you can only do one then definitely have the upstands in quartz. The worktops will look unfinished without them.

Hi Sharon, I agree upstands are the way to go if you have enough. There are so many choices with the hob splashback and you could change it every few years if you chose to at fairly low cost. We had matching up stands and a smoked grey glass splashback. Here is a pic.
