Screen every time having tried both over the years, Maintenance - Mr Muscle Shower Spray does a pretty good job & every now & again, you do have to clean thoroughly the 'seal strip' at the bottom where it meets the bath (I was out-voted on getting rid of the bath in favour of just a lovely large shower unit or even better....wet room) :-( Ah well. Had the plumbers move the shower controls to the middle of the bath so we could still reach them without having to get wet by turning them on or making it impossible to reach round the screen on the bath - I would recommend that!

Roller shower blinds have been available for quite a while - we had one years ago at a previous house and it worked really well. Although it was white, it didn't mark at all in the 5 years for which we used it, although we were careful to wipe off any stray blobs of shower gel/shampoo and leave it down for a short while after showering so that it could dry/air off but it did just seem shrug off any water. Weighted rods at the bottom kept the blind hanging straight down and it didn't get sucked towards you like a shower curtain does. The rods were in three pieces - a longer one in the middle and two shorter ones at the ends so that the blind could follow the curve of the tub at the short ends. This arrangement meant that no water escaped the bath tub. It looked neat and unobtrusive when wound back into the cassette. Shower screens take much more looking after, in my experience, so I wouldn't choose to have another one. If I remember, our blind was relatively expensive compared to a shower curtain, but the looks, the ease of use and hardly any maintenance requirements made up for that. Out blind was still in pristine condition when we moved out. The next house had a separate glass shower cubicle - nightmare! Current new-ish home has a good quality, weighted shower curtain but will soon have a new shower blind. IMHO, you wouldn't regret getting one too.

I’ve been speaking to several shower screen companies about ordering a screen like this (Majestic, Showerlab, Glasstrends all v good brand) and they all recommend using either a horizontal or a ceiling bracket. Otherwise the screen could end up a bit wobbly over time or could come away from its fixings if you were to fall against it. I didn’t want a ceiling bracket either but am going to have one as wouldn’t want to take these risks. I doubt it’s that the builders haven’t done it before, it’s actually easier for them not to install a ceiling bracket... I believe these companies all do a range of finishes eg Majestic’s “Monaco” screen can have the metal bits in Antique Gold which will fit in with your brass. Just re read and realised your shower screens are already ordered. What does your shower company say about brackets? Do they say it’s ok?

Hi lesannfull, if you buy any screen that will fold back against the wall, you need to ensure that neither your shower head or controls are on that wall as the glass won't fold back flat and will defeat the purpose. It would help to see a photo if you can.
