Curtain help please!

Hello, I would like to make a feature of this stained glass window (it's a big feature which can be seen from ultra its and downstairs so I'm nervous!) so I was thinking maybe some dress curtains with a pelmet? Not sure what colour...any advice greatly received! (House theme is dark wood/elegant/homely/rustic/cosy) thank you!!

If you need curtains to keep the heat in then go plain. The colour will depend in your carpet and wall colour.
If heat is not an issue then don't have and window treatment.
Personally I quite like to see architrave around a big window to give it more prominence

So I have taken the step and finally chosen the feature wallpaper! Laura Ashley Cottonwood natural leaf: http://www.lauraashley.com/invt/3486836. The flower in it is lavender/purple, the background an iridescent pearly beige, and the tree trunks a natural matt stone. I love it! Wardrobes are being fitted this week, and my husband wants them painted white (will be satin probably). So I'm now planning the other two walls and the small chimney breast (which will sit between the wardrobes). I have the following paints in mind (unfortunately the Little Green paints are so gorgeous but out of my budget) : 1) For the main two walls and possibly the chimney breast LA Linen: http://www.lauraashley.com/uk/paints/water-based-paint-linen/invt/linenpa (although reading the reviews of laura ashley paint - I may actually just go for a dulux similar colour) 2) or just paint the walls a similar natural colour and have a muted heather/purple (not too dark) colour paint for the chimney breast (opposite the wallpaper). I'd vote for individual curtains. Gives you greater flexibility in terms of shutting one curtain if you're blinded at certain time of the day for example. You could also have blinds behind the curtains. If you just like the look of curtains in terms of softening and dressing a room then you could pick lightweight curtains that are always in the open position and use the blinds for when you want to cover the windows up. Personally I hate it when people stick a single straight pole over the front of a room. Just ruins the character and looses useful space.
