Was it pickled with the bona traffic satin? Or a different product?

Hi there! Pickled refers to a white stain/white wash, or lime wash, or bleaching or all of the above. A treatment to make the wood look lighter. Here we used Dura Seal Country White stain (NO BLEACH) and 3 coats Bona Traffic HD. It did come out gorgeous, if we do say so ourselves! :)

Lovely floor! Yes, it looks like terrazzo to us. Terrazzo can be sanded and polished to revive its original colour. It will definitely make a difference to your floor. Maintaining it like this will also help extend the terrazzo's lifespan, too. Let us know how it goes!

Hi Vicki, I would go for bigger tiles, ones that are 60 cm x 30 cm. If you use smaller tiles the outcome may look too busy with your chosen floor tiles. I also suggest choosing very light grey wall tiles, the colour of which matches to the grey background colour of the floor tiles. That would give you the industrial sort of vibe you are aiming to achive. Order different samples and see how the combinations look in your bathroom. I quite like the wooden ‘pastry bench’ although if actually needed for that purpose, marble would be better. Also, for practical use, personally think it’s too far from the sink & cooking areas. I would also be unsure about the floor, I like it but there is just something that isn’t right - as you said, maybe it just needs some copper elements in the room (handles) to pull it together. I’d keep the direction of the ‘grain’ as it is - I think it would look odd all in line but it’s worth trying it before committing.

Thank you for the quick reply. Im going with the countru white but on select red oak and am worried it will be too uniform and bland. Have you done country white on select? What were your thoughts?

It will be more uniform. Yes, we've applied country white to select floors. It will look good if you get the right person to do it, don't worry.! Select is beautiful wood.

What finish of the Bona was used? Satin, semi glass or extra matte?

Hi! Loving these floors! I just tried country white and they felt slightly too white. My flooring guy suggested 2 parts white mixed with 1 part paint thinner for a slightly more natural look. What do you think about that? Is paint thinner bad? Also, which finish? Satin?

i would mix dura seal neutral with the country white. neutral will tone down the white. try 1-1 first because that's the easiest ratio to mix. stay away from the paint thinner is my advice.

@Valenti Flooring - how would you compare 50% country white / 50% neutral to 1 coat of Bona Nordic Seal ?

Hi! My installer did 2 coats of Nordic Seal today. 1 coat in the morning and 1 coat in the afternoon. They're supposed to start the finish tomorrow morning and it is Bona MEGA clear. Do you think there is any major issue with this?

Hi Jenn, no.. i dont think there is any reason to be concerned. The bona products dry very quickly. if they are familiar with these products it will be fine.

Thanks so much for your advice! Do you think it’s worth adding a coat of HD Traffic over the 2 coats of Mega Clear? Also, peeked my head through front door today and saw this. What do you think this white mark is??

job looks good

looks like something got stuck in the finish

they can remove it.

traffic hd is great as a top coat but it does cost more, so perhaps check with your flooring professional about cost increase to do that. it's fine over mega clear.
