Comments (9)Hello Blade40, I like your ideas.. I too would build out from the utility/garage side to join the exterior of the living room to create one big space which you can divide with glass doors in areas.. - a gr8 idea! Maybe it's a glass side return? For internal division, you can also consider panels that slide to form a wall decorated to suit the room. Screens or semi permanent structures such as wooden slatted dividers as a means to section areas or screen off kitchen or other functional aspects of the home.. Thing to consider is budget? How much? and also spatially the garden- It looks quite big and so as I want to suggest some other ideas.. Think of your materials.. Think how you want your home to blend with the landscape.. Think of the environment... Southern California vibe is gr8! You can achieve the same kind of feel.. Open landscape and sea air, textures, light... chalky paints and layering.. Pale creams and stone colours for the exterior with creams and off whites in the interior. Consider natural materials for flooring Cork, Jute, Coir, Sisal carpeting or rugs.. Painted floorboards if there are any.. Large plants and plenty of open vistas! How you mix your materials for the facade of the house could also add to it's aesthetic splendour.. Woods, concrete textural cladding, earthy colours with large earthy stoneware, plants and large leaves... Landscaping and architectural features.. Garden landscaping too and split levels.. Internally.. Boho chic or Modern lounge luxury? :))...See MoreKerb appeal challenge!! 1970's bungalow
Comments (42)Thanks very much Carolina for taking the time and trouble to do the mock ups. They really help. I like the orange, green and yellow. Would you do the side double timber gates in the same colour as the front door or match them instead with the oak window frames? Colourhappy - yes the house design is that way. Its ok to say it 🙂. In terms of the front garden, I'm thinking along the lines of a coastal gravel garden scheme with structured shrubs combined with herbaceous flowering/ foliage plants....See MoreIdeas to modernise 1970s bungalow
Comments (6)Living has moved away from seperate kitchens, so it is easy to see why your thoughts go in that direction. It seems natural to swap the kitchen with the dining room and then extend at the conservatory end to have an all weather room. A utility could then be in the old kitchen, allowing the thought to take the toilet door out of the hall and into the utility for a better entry area. Something for consideration though is that with everything 'open' along that side sound will travel, so maybe broken plan could work. Kitchen dining with a full height opening to the lounge area but maybe not the full width of the room. There are probably many innovative ideas for your space, but gathering a good idea book of what kitchens/living spaces you like will help form your ideas....See MoreModernise 1970's bungalow exterior
Comments (10)There are lots to consider here - if this was one of our clients I would be asking the following questions.. - What is your style do you want a modern-looking front? something country? - What do the neighbours look like? are they all the same? - What's the budget like? - and how many cars do you need to fit on the front there? Personally, if modern looking, I would change the colour of the wood cladding (probably to grey). I would change and update the front door to a more modern look with a large side panel of glass to add light into the porch area. And lastly, I would go down to two spaces for parking and add some minimal maintenance planting on the left-hand side (adding white and greens all year round) which goes around and just under the large windows (this will add interest and depth when sitting inside and warm the front making it feel more homely). A small fence along the front will also zone the garden/house and give you some privacy/security if needed. It's a lovely, exciting project so we wish you the best of luck - do keep in touch :)...See More- 10 years agochristinegreaves thanked Kitchenpod - Temporary Kitchen Hire (Home use)
