Living room accessories: wall art, rug and cushions
Comments (11)Hello Claudia, Speaking from an art on walls point of view, I'm loving the challenge, so I present a few choice pieces for the wall above your two armchairs that I think will be a happy compliment to your existing decor and furnishings: As regards the picture above your piano, the colours work well with your room but you don't like the subject, right? If that's the case, this consideration will have to be a decision based on what subject(s) you really like or are quite sentimental to, as opposed to colour matching an art piece just to fit in with the rest of the room. If you do play the piano, musicians are very sentimental people, so you want something above the piano that you can "feel and connect to" when you're sitting there playing. It has to be sentimental to you, irrespective of what it is and what colour it may be, and not to consider it as part of the rooms overall decor. If there is anything I can be of further help with, feel free to contact me through my Houzz profile or website: http://thejonescollection.gallery All the best with whatever you decide to choose for your wall spaces....See MoreRug and accessories for lounge
Comments (11)Thank you! Do you think any of these would be suitable? http://www.westelm.co.uk/honeycomb-textured-wool-rug-horseradish-t804 - possibly too warm and might be a bit much with the warmth of the wood? http://www.westelm.co.uk/distressed-rococo-wool-rug-horseradish-t1764 http://www.westelm.co.uk/prism-wool-rug-soot-t1301 http://www.westelm.co.uk/colca-wool-rug-t1657 http://www.westelm.co.uk/roar-rabbit-graphic-texture-rug-horseradish-t2464 http://www.westelm.co.uk/art-kilim-wool-rug-t2468...See MoreHelp! What accessories should I add?
Comments (4)I would add metallics to the room in some form- see your wall paper source photo eg mirror, lamps, central pendant, - the wall paper needs this to bring out its beauty. Not sure if headboard is new, but large upholstered headboard could look nice (See Misha M picture 1). Also bedside lockers - either dark (Lacquer black?) or light but make sure they are not the same shade as wall paper or carpet. I would also add plain bed covers - I think it will work better with the wall paper....See MoreHelp with brightening up my living room with accessories.
Comments (23)I think I would try tweaking the layout slightly. Try the sofa flat in the middle of that wall and paint the radiator in the wall colour. Angle one chair in the corner of the room facing the sofa, move the other along and put the smaller table under the other with the lamp on (Art would need to move slightly). I think a tall plant always adds life to a room (other side of sofa to what's shown). I'm not sure if I'm right in saying you don't like the wallpaper? If you don't you could look at Cole and son cow parsley, it comes in a warmish grey Which might be worth trying. If you like that one can look for cushions and a rug to complement. Would you consider a coffee table or larger footstool for the room? Something round could work. Is the inside of the fire just plastered?...See Moreminnie101
