Hello Mag, I love glam chic interiors and you picked great chairs and lighting! In square room, round table is the best option, it doesn't have sharp corners and take less space. Moreover, it allows to place as many seats as if you had larger rectangular table. You can add taupe rug with simmer. It will add cozy texture. Also add Large mirror on a wall in front of window. Choose soft or white gold metallic, not yellow gold. Consider to add small white fur throws on each chair to create contrast. Then your chairs will be a wow factor around black dining table. Add transparent glass jar with white and green flowers. You could add metallic clock and black and white pictures in frames or large wall art. In general, first complete your dining set of chairs and table. Then determine where is your focal point and decide what you what to feature there mirror or picture. Then on other large wall use what you didn't use on first. Don't overload place with colours, keep it simple. Hope it helps! Good luck! :)

Thanks everyone! :-) Really appreciate your taking the time to help. I'm going to go to the Vitra showroom tomorrow to look at the Belleville chair in more detail. minnie101 - thanks for the idea of mixing fabrics and colours. I'm definitely going to consider that! :-) Alessandra - thanks for all the great chair options! Unfortunately my husband won't consider anything in metal (he thinks it is uncomfortable), and he's not keen on the Wishbone (though I am!). My preference would be for the CH88, but I think it is just too impractical with young children.

Great chair and navy is my favourite (and go to) colour... have you added gold detail to a paint project before? I'm asking because it can be a bit of a learning curve to get it in the right place/right amount...I wonder if you add the gold as piping to the velvet seat cushion instead (think that is what rinq is saying too) and then pick up gold in other areas of the room with mirrors and accessories? Add a floral cushion like the one pic from Gerty above and you have yourself one classy looking chair! Good luck...I love restyling furniture. So rewarding! xx
