Comments (54)Tossing in some Feng Shui - the heavy table at the bottom of the stairs did block the "flow" of the stairs in a manner of blocking positive energy as it moves through the house.. . How much neater and bright you've made it! My only suggestion is to lower the art on your wall to eye level and not have it so high, and look a bit lonely. ;-( I can't tell much from this photo as it's a close up and leaves out the space where you had the table. Overall you've done a good job with that dark space and so fresh looking - and you DID end up painting your wood on the stairs.. That did wonders. Maybe on the wall with the photos, add more and maybe a small mirror or two much like the photo at the top. One way to do this is to measure out the space you want to use on the wall and tape off some floor space or rug space with blue tape. Then, lay out some framed pieces and you can mix and match until you get what you like. Saves lots of holes in the wall.. You can definitely pick up small mirrors for next to nothing and maybe use family photos mixed with other prints. The wall just looks a bit bare. That's my only last bit of suggestion, and may add some color and bling to that wall. Again, good job!!...See MoreHow Much Marble is too much ?
Comments (5)Timeless classic! You can never have enough marble, provided you keep the rest of the bathroom fittings minimalist and clear, i.e. more sleek stainless steal than fussy gold ornamental ones. The full on floor to ceiling marble bathrooms I have seen have kept all other items very simple so to enhance the marble as it's pretty imposing on it's own....See MoreWooden pergola/frame around front door??
Comments (47)thanks all for your input. Update:- - Moved most of the excess pots now except the ivy ones (but put those in smaller dark grey tubs instead so more discreet). - Getting a price for a new window to match the rest - Have been busy jet-washing the back garden & decking down as we are going to look at removing the big old slabs on the corner decking and putting some large slate black stepping stones around to break up all the "cat litter" ;) ha ha. Then paint the decking grey (just started a thread asking for colour advice on these). So the garage.... HELP turns out there is a paint for the uPVC if I can't replace that large monstrosity that is the fascia board, but I need advice on colours please? Really wish I had had a grey door put in now instead of black but that means the garage will have to be a combo of black & white or all black or leave all white. I don't think I can add grey can I if I have white windows and a black door???? what do you all think??...See MoreI need ideas for my dark and gloomy hallway
Comments (50)I absolutely love what you've done, Diana. It's so elegant and stylish, but not fuddy duddy. You've updated it, without spoiling the character and beauty. Way too often, people spoil the most beautiful period houses, trying to be too clever with garish and over the top decor or too many "on trend", fashion features. When really the house needs to just speak for itself. You have a beautiful house....See MoreKarolina Barnes
