Probably 'The Hog Run' as we have a very active family of hedgehogs, which love nothing better than legging it around our garden..

We have several robins that hop into our house and feed from our hands. When we come into the house, one of them will often just hop along right behind us into the kitchen. Would love to name the house after the robins but 'Robin's Nest' does sound a little naff!

We moved into "Vejemi Cottage" two weeks ago... name was made up of the previous previous owners (Vera, Mike and someone else I think!) we got our friends to think of names on Facebook and had about 100 ideas. Settled on Bluebell Cottage as we live next door to "Snowdrop villa " although I liked also September Cottage for when we moved in and Juniper Cottage to mark my love of gin! We decided bluebells were prettier than juniper.... this week we will plant lots, just in case there aren't any!

Didn't the Victorians like to name their villas after their garden trees? Copper Beeches for example. So ours would be Monkey Puzzler?

I would call ours monkey puzzle if we had one, a fab tree and fab name! We tried for Acorn or Oak cottage and Pear Tree but all had gone in our postcode area of about a square mile

We live in a victorian mid terrace. Dates early 1880's. My dad was researching the men of Worthing who had been killed during the First World War. I commented how I would be interested in knowing if one had lived in our house. A few months later he called to say somebody by the name of Borane had lived there, a couple of weeks later he had found a gentleman called Anderson also had been living in our house and the following day research showed somebody called Dyer resided in our home. Apparently the family who owned the house took in waifs and strays. Sad really. Our house is now known as Borane, Anderson Dyer Cottage. We always place a poppy on the name plaque on 11/11.

My home is a converted barn and was already named The Shippen when we bought it. I have to spell it for EVERYONE, 'The Shippen S-H-I-P-P-E-N'. The Cow Shed would have been better!

Living in a rural area, none of the homes are numbered so we had to choose a name for our place. We got together as a family and threw some suggestions about. Eventually it was between 2 and we let the children decide. It was shortly after the first 'Lord Of The Rings' film came out and so the name they plumped for was influenced by that. I'm glad they chose it now as we get so many people commenting what a great address we have, especially paired with our street name - so, we live at 'Rivendell, Devils Highway' which, luckily, is actually as picturesque as it sounds and I think pretty cool

We had nothing and needed everything when we got married, so the house was called Shasta,..... she has to have.

Ours is Jasmine, next door is Rose and then Fern & Lavender. We don't have house numbers so they have always been named. A friend of mine has just moved from Holly Cottage to Ivy Cottage

The Money Pit?

I stayed with friends in a lovely cottage named "Weavers" in Coney Weston (near Bury St. Edmund's in EA). It was built in 1690 and was originally owned by a weaver of cloth. Interestingly, many of the historic homes and plantations in the American South have names. Many of them are hauntingly beautiful, such a Shadows on the Teche. Also, we tend to name our vacation homes rather than our primary residences.
