Thank you Jacksplash yes i had thought about them but not been able to find any i liked. I love the Jonathan adler nickel one... love the pattern... Do they give a lot of light? I need a lot of light in there (eg cool outside lighting)

I think I need to either swap the cluster for downlighting pendants or for 3 across the front of the island. The ambient pendants look stunning from afar but actually sitting at the island isn't great. Secondly, I think we will need to add shelves with downlighting either side of the sink (or just one side) as purely relying on ceiling spots isn't very cosy at night.

am having difficulty figuring out the first two photos. but the second makes me think of this, so be very careful!! i'd be looking at places to put up wall lights i think, so they can light up the ceiling as well as the walls/art.

I would look for a statement lighting design to have over the dining table. The danish do fantastic designs, but there are budget ones available too. I would also consider wall lights. There are some beautiful examples available. Original BTC has some porcelain shaded ones called Hector. Quite a classical style which would never date. Consider task lighting for your kitchen. It will also help with maintenance as a lot of lights are hung too high to reach for cleaning. Industville has an amazing selection of wall lights and pendants. An idea of your overall look would help with the advice. Are you renovating the kitchen?
