Engineered wood is more stable and is used with underfloor heating. It costs more to produce (glued layers) but can look the same as solid. I prefer unfinished wood which then gives the option of finishing it yourself and critically refinishing it if you need to. Most engineered woods are ready finished.

It's always a little tricky to visualise without an image but if we break it down the colours you have to work with are: dark floorboards, grey patio slabs, dark brown and mid oak furniture, and a vanilla kitchen. There's quite a mix there and based on the furniture and dark oak floorboards, it seems like the space might have quite a traditional feel? With this in mind, I'd suggest a herringbone floor in your kitchen. A natural oak would work well with the vanilla kitchen units and furniture. Yet, a darker oak could blend nicely with your hallway boards. Or, there's the option of an ashen colour that would lend itself to your grey tiles outside. I think the long stairs window suits this house and personally I would change the proportions of the window to the left of the front door.... as you now seem to have done. I’m not sure that a living roof suits the front of this house and I would rather see a plain and modern flat roof. However softening the frontage with planting could look super
