Need rug ideas
Comments (5)Yes low pile and patterned are best for hiding any marks. You can also get machine washable rugs. I bought a jute rug as I had heard they are good at disguising any marks and that is true, but mine is quite thick and holds on to so much dust and crumbs in all the crevices, I have to regularly put it on the washing line and beat it with a stick because hoovering just doesn't cut it....See MoreSmall living room with stairs
Comments (16)Hi Natalie. I think with spaces like this where you need to maximise storage and not block the walkway I would have custom made shelves under the stairs - some of these can be open for books and DVDs and others as cupboards. I would then fit the TV on a bracket on the wall where the dolls house currently is. A small sideboard could be added under here or where the 'play kitchen' is although this would limit the size of the L-shaped sofa. I think painting the woodwork white is a great idea and I would also suggest swapping the floor length curtains for a Roman blind to increase the sense of space....See MoreLiving room and dining room advice
Comments (22)The Persian rug is lovely. We have several (sitting room, study, hall, bedroom ..... they're a bit addictive), with fabric using a couple of the colours in each for stuff like cushions, curtains etc. with neutral walls. I agree with minnie about the patterns. To get the right colour combinations, at a reasonable price, you could find a company that does a range with the colour or colours you're looking for and then look for remnants on ebay, to get them at bargain prices. That's worked well for us. Stuff like this:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Schumacher-Curtain-Fabric-PASHA-PAISLEY-2m-POMEGRANATE-100-WOOL-/322509242456?hash=item4b170c8058:g:DwsAAOSw42JZAwWm And if you're looking for another rug to complement the one you've got, www.carpetu2.co.uk has a massive range on-line, at better prices than I've been able to find here. They're actually in Greece, but don't charge for shipping, which is very fast....See Moredining and living room interiors
Comments (9)Hi Beanie, Did you attach a photo of your dining table? Perhaps it's not uploaded, or I can't see it? You've got a lovely space, with gorgeous high ceilings, so lots of options for ways to fill it. I think the living room needs some more lighting, perhaps floor lighting, as your wall colour is a darker tone. Here's a couple of ideas: This is a matt grey floor lamp that would blend nicely with your existing colour scheme, while offering a lot of extra light. This is a matt black lamp that is black but still seems quite unobtrusive, because its legs and silhouette is very minimalistic. It barely has a footprint! Here's a mirror effect pendant lamp that turns opaque when the bulb is off. It uses these beautiful Plumen 001 lightbulbs, which are really eye-catching. These Saarinen tulip side tables are wonderful for brightening up a space. The marble options include varying shades of whites, greys and dramatic greens and blacks. The Kasthall Goose Eye Icons rug is a classic, and the pattern would tie the room together really well. For dining chairs, I'll have a think, and get back to you once you've posted a pic of the table. But for now, have a look at these ones for some inspiration: https://www.couchpotatocompany.com/collections/dining-chairs Links to products mentioned: Caravaggio Floor Lamp: https://www.couchpotatocompany.com/collections/floor-lighting/products/caravaggio-matt-floor-lamp Radon Floor Lamp: https://www.couchpotatocompany.com/collections/floor-lighting/products/radon-matt-floor-lamp Pharaoh Pendant Lamp: https://www.couchpotatocompany.com/products/pharaoh-pendant-lamp Saarinen Tulip Side Table: https://www.couchpotatocompany.com/collections/coffee-side-tables/products/tulip-side-table-round Kasthall Goose Eye Icons Rug: https://www.couchpotatocompany.com/collections/rugs/products/kasthall-goose-eye-icons-rug Best of luck with the rest of the designing process.
