Front door colour suggestions.
Hello, I have been wanting to paint my front door for a while now. All the doors on our street are the same colour, white, as we live on newish housing estate.
I was thinking of a dark grey colour.

Comments (12)I'd tone down the door or brighten up the artwork. Both are lovely but it's as though they are separate rooms with the red door picking up the stained glass. I opted for Little Greene Celestial Blue as recommended by Sonia (thank you!). My question now is should we have celestial blue on the door frame too, or should we stick with white?? Comments (0)We are moving the main floor to our house to the front from the side. The window on the right will be replaced by a door and the space will be 1100mm wide. We are looking to introduce as much light as possible into the hallway. Firstly, we can't decide whether this space is too narrow for a side window and we would be better going for a wider door. We quite like a classic style and plan on putting a canopy porch over but any suggestions for design/style etc. would be really helpful please? Comments (6)Hi Louise - I’m so glad you asked that question as I’ve just been googling the exact same thing! I have a red brick Victorian cottage, and want to change the door fixtures and colour. It’s currently not a million miles from Painswick, but with more yellow it in that hasn’t aged well. I’m considering F&B De Nimes blue, and seeing Sonia’s Pigeon blue has strengthened my feeling about that - grey/blue and terracotta look great together, I think. PRO9 years agoI'd probably look for a warm toned door as the sandy colour you have around your windows is warm toned. If you went with a cool toned grey it could look odd. I'd personally pick something like this sage green as that would look lovely with your other greenery/plants :)

I love farrow and balls blue colours but I might avoid them given the colour of the bin shed door. Maybe consider their studio green?

9 years agolast modified: 9 years agoYou have a lovely cottage style door, so I think a soft green or blue would look very in keeping, although I do think the berry red one below is rather nice! My sister painted her cottage door black with silver furniture and it looks fab. Good luck with whichever colour you choose!
