How to make the outside of a house look more attractive
Comments (11)I think lightening up the top part of the house and adding planting would look good too - I also think you should darken the paving at the front to a couple of shades darker than the roof to anchor the house to the ground and stop making it look so top heavy. I would also add a brightly coloured door to lead the eye downwards instead of up towards the roof, as well as adding plants and other bits of interest in the front garden will help draw the eye there instead of up towards the proportionately large roof space...See Moremaking my 60’s house more modern downstairs
Comments (4)Hi Gilly, Do you use your fireplace in the sitting/dining room? being central it does make it awkward to separate the rooms: ie having the dining area and conservatory as the kitchen/diner and open across the hallway (current kitchen) to the snug, and keeping the sitting room separate. Alternatively, is it feasible to extend out the snug? If so this might make a good place for the kitchen….units along the left wall and garage with an island culminating in an attached table at the far end for stools, maybe a deep window seat….. I would open the current kitchen window as french doors to the patio. An Australian beach style bench under a bifold opening window to the newly extended snug comes to mind…..the sunny aspect mentioned sparking that thought I suspect!! the whole ground floor open plan maybe? Maybe you wouldn‘t need to replace the conservatory and have a bigger patio area? An exciting project....See MoreDesign ideas for 1960 house to make modern look

Comments (9)If you are keeping the green backsplash, that would be a good choice for integrated fridge cabinet - I'd install as many tall cabinets as possible to fill that space and have them all in the green so that it creates a green block of cabinetry - one tall cabinet in a different colour will look quite odd, but a block filling the whole space will look much more intentional....See More- 9 years ago
