Electric blinds??

I'm after fitting electric remote controlled blind to a number of our windows but I can only seem to find ones that are controlled by RF remotes and I need ones that are controlled by IR so that I can add them to or "Harmony" multi remote control system. I'm in the UK, can any one recommend a supplier? Thanks

Our blind system also work on RTS technology but we offer a Smart home integration option if you ever opt to go that route.

Hi The Siblingz,

I have the Logitech Harmony that currently controls everything in the living room (TV, Sound, Lights and een the air con) but when I contacted them directly they informed me that although the Harmony outputs RF and receives it you can not add/program a RF remote to the Harmony, only IR??

Could I ask, have you successfully been able to add an RF controlled appliance to a Harmony? I tried everything to get the RF lights working with it (it was he reason I contact Logitech) but couldn't and so changed them to an IR system.

Hi, I only work with electric blinds which are all custom sizes. I've had a look for manual blinds for you, and I see that most of the manufacturers want to know the make and model of the window. There do seem to be a view who will make bespoke sizes (although I haven't used these companies): http://www.blocblinds.co.uk/skylight_blinds/custom_skylight_blinds custom skylight blinds You will need blinds designed for skylights, as these either have tensioning or channels at the sides to stop the blind sagging. Hi Martin, I had spotted that you were in the North West, my thoughts we to see if the blind sizing was feasible first, then get you a quote for the Lutron blinds and check you were happy with that, then look at installation. For the installation side, I would look at using a scaffolding/tower company to install the tower separately so that the blind (s) can then be installed from the tower. I would be able to come up to Liverpool to do the installation, alternatively, I can give you a list of Lutron installers more local to you to do the work instead if you'd prefer? In terms of power coming to the blinds, is there an existing 240V supply for the blinds or would this need installing too? Thanks, Peter

Hi, I have 2 sets of bifold doors, one at 3.2m the other 5.5m. Somfy RF blinds inside which work really well using their remote controller. This summer though has meant the sun coming through the glass has created so much solar gain…green house effect that our large family room is around 35C. My problem is that my bifold door frame is just 35mm from the underside of the roof eaves so there is no room to put external roller blinds with cassettes to be able to keep the sun out. The only solution, other than changing the whole roof structure, is to have external quality ceiling hung curtain rails which are only 24mm in cross-section and hang pergola type UV resistant curtains which would need drawing each day and tying back at night. I know this will work but its seems a bit clunky and the curtains would need taking down from autumn to winter. Any other suggestions please? By the way this would cost around £600 to £800 self installed.

Please have a look at Luxaflex Blinds. They use a system called Hunter Douglas to control their blind systems.

Per this support comment Logitech is compatible with this device and could be the right brand for your blinds as well.

If you like we could source the blinds for you and get more information.

We have not integrated with a hormonal system before as we typically specify wired systems to avoid these issues, but I too like these wireless options!
