Industrial style shelves
Comments (11)Hey Marc, I think our entire project cost around £1k, but there was a lot of shelves and as you said, much bigger than what you're looking for. The shelves sit on the connectors, they aren not connected to the wall in any way. You need to ensure that you have a circular cutter that is large enough for the pole to slip through but not the connector. Ive attached a pic for you to see how the shelves sit. The angle grinder was needed to cut the poles to length, all though most suppliers will cut for a price if you provide them with a cutting list. However I would suggest having one to hand to do any last minute changes. I didn't know you could cut them with a tile cutter, but worth a shot. Issues, we live in a victorian house without a single straight wall. We also have very few joists in the walls, so we had to be creative. We used the base of the poles and created a straight line with them, and cut down the backs of the shelves so touch the wall. Much easier that way. I attached them to both the floor and the wall. We attached the base plates with Stixall glue which is stronger than anything I have ever encountered. We have a tiled floor so were unable to bolt in. And then screwed it into the wall as well. Its beyond solid!...See Morehow to create an Industrial themed kitchen
Comments (21)The other option I looked at was ikea carcasses and then bespoke doors, end panels and drawers fronts in formica birch ply which I think is going to be massive in the next few years. I found a company that can fabricate formica onto birch ply very reasonably, so that was an option. That was when we were going to have wooden floors, getting a wooden kitchen meant we used tiled floors (as double wood is tricky). Google, birch ply formica kitchens, there are some lovely ones out there....See Moreindustrial glamour Splashback ideas
Comments (85)@pma - yes I thought about the silver side and although it looked better (guess because of all the silver in the room) it kind of drained the wall? Made it feel colder? Weird. I got a bronzed brass sample from the metal sheet company and before I painted the wall, you couldn’t really see all the colours in it (just looked black) Then after painting, all the bronze and colours popped out of it so I’m getting a price. Will be something we will have to save for as it will be super expensive ie probably over £600 so we are going to live with the painted wall for now and add the shelves etc then see what we think :0) Going to get some gold toned hanging lights as they might just lift that area without it being too much....See Morefinal bathroom design - semi industrial?
Comments (78)@Jaya Garella I wasn't 100% sure what you meant by 'the bras'? haha. none of the tiles on the mock up pic are anything I have specifically chosen - they are the least offensive on the app I had which is a house mock up program and not specifically for bathrooms. I would need a splashback with a sink unit though as that back sink/wc wall is just a wood frame at the moment so will need plasterboarding. Part of me wants to avoid the grey as although I love a rich grey, the rest of my house is off black by F&B so very dark and moody. In the tiles in a small room it might be a bit drab? I'm also struggling to find patterned tiles that I could put all over the bath wall and bath that wouldn't be too much ie too large a pattern or too small. I would then have to have maybe a wood effect (vinyl or tile) on the floor as I think pattern on the floor and bath panel and large wall might be too much? You don't see the bath wall when you walk in as the door opens to the left and hides it. Trying to find some industrial glam images of alternative options as I'm a bit stuck in a rut with it and my bathroom fitting team is a bit old school so not up on design! haha...See MoreClever And Simple
