Window film to skylight?

We recently completed a south facing rear extension and put in a bi fold and 1200 x 1200 skylight. We are now concerned that the sunshine will fade our lovely new sofa! my husband wants to put a blind up in the skylight and electric roller blinds to the bifold. I dont want to do that and found a company who puts a window film on the inside that apparantly stops the UV that causes fading. Does anybody have experience of window film and does it actually work?
