Hello, we have a small loft conversion, double bedroom & ensuite, to decorate - from the builder's finish, it's just been done. It's got low sloping ceilings and lots of angles and not much wall. (Pics to follow)
So we are going to follow received wisdom and paint walls and ceilings same colour. We are looking at a white with a bit of grey in it like Farrow & Ball's Ammonite. (We have grey patterned floor tiles and dark grey anthracite radiator in en suite, and to continue that we are looking at a grey-with-a-hint-of-blue carpet for the bedroom.)
The question is whether we pick out the woodwork in a different shade; and if so whether to make that shade darker or lighter.
I always assumed that we would paint the woodwork a different shade to make it less 'boring' but someone said painting it darker could make the room look smaller by drawing the eye to the skirting-boards, doors etc. So I'm leaning away from that.
Also painting everything the same shade could make it feel more airy, spacious and restful?
If we want the walls Ammonite and the woodwork lighter then it'd have to be F&B Wevet - but would that be different enough to notice / bother with? Other option is go a shade darker on walls / ceiling - Cornforth White. But that I fear will be too grey.
Any advice appreciated. (Pics to follow).
