double oven or single and microwave combi
Comments (9)I have a double oven at home and to be honest only use the top oven for toast. I never use it for baking. All my baking/roasts are done in the bottom oven. My freestanding microwave is situated in my island. I also have a property in Somerset and in that I have a single oven and an integrated microwave. I guess it depends how much you cook and whether you'd need a double oven because you need the extra cooking space. I have 3 racks in my bottom oven and 1 in the top so 4 racks altogether. My son has a single oven and integrated microwave above and would never have anything different. If you only plan to use the top oven for the likes of toast (when in fact you could just use a toaster anyway) perhaps the best option is a single oven with microwave over it....See Moredouble oven? 2xsingle ovens? warning drawer? help!
Comments (13)There are plenty of double ovens on the market. I rarely use my top oven for cooking, only for grilling bits and bobs, but mainly toast. To be honest I could manage without it but just like the thought of it being there as a back up. Warming drawers are expensive. We fitted 2 a couple of months ago for a customer (one in each housing under the ovens) and her reason for choosing them was that she didn't like microwaves. Whether or not she has used them, I don't know. They're not something I would personally cough up for. I guess it depends on how many you're cooking for on special occasions that you feel leads you to want the double oven. I cook for 8 most Christmas days and manage fine in the bottom part of my double oven. The turkey is cooked before everything else goes in and I have 3 shelves Personally I do not like to see an integrated microwave installed oven a double oven. It's too high....See MoreBuilt-in oven with microwave function - is it good enough?
Comments (8)@pm60 no you can run both at the same time. My Mum has a compact Siemens oven with Microwave and basically it can be an oven, a microwave or both at the same time. This speeds up cooking times so instead of the family lasagne taking 40 minutes it takes 20-25mins....See MoreTall housing for built in oven and combi
Comments (12)I had the same issue as this and my kitchen fitter worked out the perfect height to have the combi oven stacked over the single oven. The unit below is a drawer which measures 350mm and the overall height to the top of the oven is 1570mm. The bottom of the single oven is 510mm from the floor and the oven is Neff slide and hide. The height of both the ovens work well for me and my husband who is 5ft 9in. The only difficulty I had was explaining this to my kitchen fitter because he was well over 6ft tall but we got it right in the end!...See MoreJuliet Docherty
