Bedroom windows!

Hi all!
Alongside our living/dining room decorating project we are also trying to finish with the bedroom and we got seriously stuck!
After searching loads of images and thinking about best and prettiest options we thought that we could get away with a single panel curtain for our two windows...but once we hung our beautiful curtains it seems that something is seriously wrong here...
What do we do?????
I can't return curtain anymore...so options are:
-Buy another pair, but then we might have too much fabric in a room?!
-try adding roman blinds
-maybe open them not towards the middle of the wall but apart? But there is not much space for them there
-replace completely with shorter two panel curtains (not too passionate about short curtains....)
-replace with roman blinds
-add voile (would that help??)

Hi, Eve,

I think the simplest would be to get another pair and have a pair on each window, I don't think that it would at all be too much fabric in the room. Curtains always look better in pairs on windows like this, and I agree with you that short curtains aren't the thing.... you could add a roman blind as well as having that pair of curtains on each window, that would finish it very nicely -- perhaps a roman blind in a sheer fabric?

I think you have a few options. 1)You could have these curtains remade into Roman Blinds. 2) You could have matching/coordinating Roman Blinds made for the recess and then have the existing curtains remade as dress curtains. You would have to get each curtain split down the middle and re-stitched. For an idea of cost I know our local dry cleaner does this for £10 per linear metre. This would obviously halve the bulk of each curtain. 3) You could buy another pair of curtains, but you then have to face the possibility that the curtain colour won't actually match exactly because of different fabric batches. Also you say that there may not be enough room for all that fabric at the sides.

We are in the process of replacing our windows but struggling with what to do with the master bedroom. All windows are being replaced in Anthracite and mostly casent style. This window is a problem because its very long. The current opening is too small so we would like a bigger one. This particular window is longer (and not so wide) than the others and has lower cill in the bedroom. So far i’ve not found an opening design that seems to work well with the other casement windows.

Definitely blinds since you don't have the wall space for curtains. I have white wooden venetian blinds in my bedrooms, but I also have curtains. Roman blinds are a good option if you want a softer material, but I like the fact that you can adjust the light levels with venetian blinds (my bedrooms are south facing).

Agreeing with Anna Auzins, buy another pair. Far from making it look like you have too much fabric, it will just look like you have the right amount. Currently, it does look like you're missing two curtains.

I have the same set up in my bedroom. I have one curtain each window but on the outside of the both poles tied bath with tie-backs. The curtains are just for show as I have a blind on each which I pull down leaving the curtains in place.
