Not so keen on carpets in Halllway's they get grubby easily, so, you'd probably be best with a carpet and a runner over the top. Therefore, as the green would be too dark for the floor and suck light, i'd go with a mid grey and then get a runner with green and pale grey in it to compliment the walls. What flooring do you have in other rooms on the ground floor? Laminate, LVT etc are great in Hallway's and are easily cleaned. Plus, a wood would warm things up a little. I see what you mean, it is a bit bland. Your painting feels a bit too small on the chimney breast, so I'd hang that on the wall behind the TV. I think you should lose the wall lights. I think that you could paint the entire fireplace wall a nice greyish blue, maybe look at Dulux Denim Drift I'd hang a lovely round mirror on the chimney. I've put one with a wooden frame in, but it could be anything you like really. And I've also put a large canvas art piece above the dining table. I assume you've moved that against the wall because you're working from home etc. now? Otherwise I'd turn it around and centre it under the ceiling light. Are these ceiling lights your choice? You are quite right, it is the tone that needs to be similar, for example in the bedroom pic above the carpet is a lot lighter than the wall behind the bed, but much the same as the side walls. It works because they are just a similar colour, but lighter and darker. The herringbone stair carpet is darker, yes a similar tone. It just works. Hope that makes sense! I have Egyptian Cotton in my bedroom and hall, stairs and landing. I chose quite a colourful carpet on the stairs because I love colour, but that herringbone one is lovely!
