Tile suggestions
We've just installed out grey slate shower tray. Next step is tiling, any suggestions re colours? I've ordered an anthracite colour vanity unit with chrome tap, white wall hung toilet and a glass shower panel with all chrome finishings. Suggestions so welcome! Decorating an entire house at once is proving stressful. I'm attaching the tile colour I was thinking of.

- 9 years agoThis is the vanity unit and I've attached a collage of the tile with slate and a mirrored mosaic to use in built in shower shelving.

Comments (8)A very nice new kitchen - a lovely classic combination. Wrt a border, I'm not personally convinced by adding a border to metro tiles, especially in a fairly narrow "band" as in a kitchen. What I would, however, propose would be a matching wood upstand and then the metro tiles. I don't think you need much more than that in what is a compact space. Let us know what you go for! Comments (29)Dear all, many thanks for your wonderful support. We are scheduled to move in Jan 12, and sorry to say, but we decided to postpone our kitchen update. It will be too much to handle for us. moving, contractors, business travel, etc. I hope that one day, sooner rather than later, I can give you a wonderful update on our kitchen remodel, incorporating some of the ideas that you contributed so generously. Comments (6)If you put tiles up, make sure to remove the countertop upstand first - it looks so much better without it. Rather than tiles, how about putting the same material as countertop up as a full backsplash - really modern, clean (and easy to clean!) option....See More- 9 years ago

I like the tiles - One suggestion though and that's go with 600 x 300mm tiles, the shower tray is long and rectangular so in my opinion would suite better, rectangular tiles.
My wife used these in our shower room:- Brook Grey Matt Porcelain - Wickes - awesome price at only 12.95 a sqm too.
The pic below shows the colour both through the glass shower panel on the left and without the door on the right, she was fussy about the colour through the glass matching the walls!!
As you see the glass changes the colour of the tile slightly to a green grey - we had to have the wall paint colour matched.

I like the two bottom ones from the bottom pic ( not so much the mosaics )
Still not sure that the dark ones match the vanity enough in colour, they're close but maybe not close enough. You'd have to physically compare the two, it's difficult with just pics. They will probably look great together!
9 years ago- 9 years agoPS definitely patterned tiles on floor. I think it gives depth and interest, and stops bathrooms looking too sleek/hotel and a bit more homely. Here's our downstairs cloakroom- wallpaper is yet to go in above dado and picture frame wainscoting below. These tiles were from Mandarin Stone, and they used to do a grey version that would look brilliant in your space next to that slate...

Have you considered continuing on with the chosen colour (tray) The tray is indeed lovely as Tops Tiles have already mentioned.. Its a sophisticated choice and with a seamless look throughout- I think could be spectacular. Also consider an option for tile design that is not just the usual.. Herringbone would add a fabulous difference and add texture and interest. You can carry this throughout from walls to floor..
Another reason for this is that you do not "zone" for want of a better way of putting it any specific areas in such an overt way, which can have a detrimental effect on the overall spatial effect visually.
Also consider interesting combinations on a theme or variations on a tone with the colour. The same can be said for mixed finishes. Lastly some beautiful brass fittings could really enhance the finish... Have a look at these for some inspiration.. :))

Shades on a theme and mixed materials add sophistication.
