Dark cloakroom ideas?
Comments (14)I have pale grey tumbled marble on the floor and walls (up to sink level) in my small downstairs cloakroom and a large white framed mirror on the wall that faces you when you enter. The upper walls are currently white as I wasn't brave enough to embrace colour when I first created the space. But the room is crying out for (and will soon have) a rich, deep hue like the one in your picture. I think a dark F&B blue/grey with light grey tumbled marble slabs or other natural stone makes a stunning combination. Stone is a very practical material for floors that get wet a lot, too!...See MoreDecorating with bold colours. Advice needed.
Comments (26)kevnick80 I am trying to find the right intense blue. I've currently used Sanderson's Sea Blue but the one I wish I had used, and which I found after I'd painted the room, is Abigail Aherne's Bowery Blue. I've put a spread of it on a wall, next to a spread of the one I've used to compare them, and it's richer but brighter and very intense. I will paint over the Sanderson one as soon as I've got the energy. Here's the Bowery Blue - if you put your cursor on the paint colour you see it with good lighting which is, of course, important with dark colours; mirrors make a difference, too: https://abigailahern.com/search?q=bowery+blue...See MoreUpdating a small, white-tiled bathroom and colour advice please.
Comments (15)Sanitary ware. I'm having a crisis of decision making. I bought a new sink and vanity from IKEA: https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/washstands-taps/wash-stands/fullen-t%C3%A4lleviken-wash-basin-cabinet-white-spr-39891444/ However, it's occurred to me since that it'll take up too much of the room/floorspace, especially as the sink faces you as you walk in. I've been looking at other designs, and the wall-hung sink with a nicer-looking chrome waste could be a much better option. Added to this, if I'm tiling the floor, I'll probably need to buy a new loo, and IKEA doesn't do matching loos. Therefore...where can I buy a basic loo/basin package? What's the difference between a 'toilet and basin' and a 'cloakroom suite'? Should I go for one or two tap holes? Am I wasting my money? Should I just update the taps on the existing sink and tile-box in the waste?...See MoreBathroom Decor Help
Comments (10)We have a very small downstairs cloakroom and we've tiled half way up the wall all round in very large porcelain tiles in a pale cream and then painted the rest a very deep, blood red. So I think you could be a bit adventurous with paint and if you don't like it, you can always repaint. You have the benefit of a window, so it's not a pokey dark room. You could push the boat out and look at stunning wallpaper, like the Koi paper by Osborne and Little. I think a little loo is just the place to go bold. You could have shelves across the back in place of the cupboard, but in my experience, the towels and loo roll, make a lot of fluff in such a confined space and I think you'd be forever dusting or wiping the down....See MoreC T
