Round Dining Room

Fuggles 17

We live in an oast house and
our dining room is round and 5.34m (17’6” feet) across. It is quite dark so we
repainted it in Dulux Ivory Lace (pale cream). We replaced the curtains and
blinds for a fabric with a dark red flower on a beige background to lead into
the garden.

We were going to replace our
1980’s Danish design table and unit but this has now come back in fashion, so
we restained the chairs and reupholstered the seat pads. It has a central light
so the table is positioned underneath.

The room is quite large and we
would like to make it more cosy with perhaps a chair by the fireplace.

We would like a feature wall,
but as the wall is continuous we cannot paper or paint one wall, so wondered
about a mural or a stencil perhaps reflecting its past use for drying hops.

We are also undecided about
the floor covering. The beige carpet has seen better times and we thought about
a wood floor, but wondered whether this would be too dark. The adjacent hall
has a dark oak floor.

We would like to thank you
in advance for your advice and suggestions.
