Could you tell me where the fire surround is from please & what is the material it is made from ?
Also, the black inset, is that just black painted walls or is it tiles or some other material ?

Make a frame to fit on the inside to whatever width you want. Screw it on to the inside of the frame from the other side ( which is hollow ) and then it will sit flush with the frame. I'd probably paint it black to match the fire, or match it to the frame.

Your room is lovely and I really like the black coffee table and side table. Black always lifts a neutral room. The fireplace surround is nice, but I think it would be better painted white, or for more drama, black. A rug would be nice but I don’t think the room really needs one, and i love a rug!
