Is there a rule on what colour to paint a wooden fire surround?

Comments (6)Make a frame to fit on the inside to whatever width you want. Screw it on to the inside of the frame from the other side ( which is hollow ) and then it will sit flush with the frame. Thanks guys! Anyone know if the white surround (is painted metal) would come up the same way if I rubbed it down and used this stuff?
