wall mounted bar stools/swing out stools?

Does anyone know who makes something similar that's not hundreds of pounds?
Thinking they might be great with our island rather than buying separate stools ...

Also seen ones with backs on them!

Search "wall mounted prison stools" or just "prison stool" i found them while looking for the same as you lol

I do like the idea of white stools, if you fancy painting the stools. I would personally paint the walls white and hang some bright coloured art (maybe with some yellow accents) - it will brighten the area. If you don't want to spend too much on the paint, either browse through the discounted section in B&Q and homebase, or buy cheap white paint (£4.00 for 5L homebase brand) and mix part of it with a paint tester of your choice for off white shade (like white + beige for lovely warm light shade of roman stone) - you're lucky to have such a lovely and well lit kitchen!

I think you're right about the too much wood thing. Since you'll get a wooden table too. The school type stools look very industrial and not very inviting to me. I like the leather ones and would need to sit on the Bertoia ones to feel how comfortable they are. It also depends on which dining chairs you'll pick. Here are black rattan ones

Cheapest option would be to replace countertop with extended version that allows use of flat wood flooring for a stool but this cuts into your living area. You could add thin kitchen wall units or shelf unit, floor mounted at back of breakfast bar to detract eye from change in height of the flooring. This extra storage would be great for occasional use items or cookery books. If you kitchen is a knock through, The step probably incorporates the bricks that made up the base of the removed wall or plumbing , electrics, so it could be expensive and messy to try to extend or reduce the higher level of flooring.

If you want the seats to swing out from the island be sure to check that the island is substantial enough to take the load, also that the island is well anchored to the floor. If you consider the arm is for example 2 feet long, then sitting on the extende seat will be the same as applying your full weight to a crowbar, two people sitting on one side would destroy a normally constructed island.

Similarly, if fitted to a wall make sure that they are anchored well and that the wall structure is suitable. A nice idea to save space though

Thanks Chris. I think I posted this question some time ago so I haven’t designed the island specifically to take the weight but I will check with my kitchen guy and see what he says.
