Design Dilemma Kitchens

Need help. Design for kitchen.

This is my new kitchen design. The tile is fixed, but I am struggling on what colour of counter-top is better and what kind of handle should be used for the cabinets. I would like to seek your advice or comments. Many thanks.

Hi, I'd be tempted to go for a light coloured worktop to bring as much light in the kitchen as possible so it feels more spacious. I agree that light coloured surfaces will help this feel bigger.
Personally I think that there are things that could be done to maximise space.
For instance you could have a reduced depth hob- if you found one that was 40cm deep there would be room for storage behind. Given that you have a compact oven perhaps a 2 ring hob would be sufficient? I would personally get an induction hob so that more of the surface is flat and you can put things down on it while preparing food.
In my opinion the wall cabinets are on the wrong wall and you would be better having a cabinet with a concealed extractor and then shelves over the sink.
In my opinion I would also be thinking about moving the sink closer to the oven. Although this compromises the room you have for washing up it would increase the room you have for food preparation between the sink and hob. You might also consider a narrower sink (perhaps 45cm wide).

perhaps its time to either ask for design help with the company you intend to purchase from - or alternatively hire an independent kitchen designer to design the room for optimum usage and style ? there are a few of us on Houzz who do that ! Thanks Shikta, From the drawing, it looks like you have two walls that could accommodate units (top with the velux's and the wall attached on the right)? Possibly with options near the pantry room. As for an Island/peninsula, we've never found a space where one can't be included... You would just need to ensure you have enough space between worktop/appliances. Hey Nisha! I love your Option 4 and what a fab design- looks amazing!!! I think Option 4 has lots of space and flow through the room without having to walk around furniture and is a great adult space with formal and informal dining with the addition of the breakfast bar. If little people do come along in the future and you need a play space when they're a little bit older, you can always whip out the breakfast bar and move the table up closer to the kitchen at that point- it's a lovely flexible design. In the meantime Option 4 feels light and open and spacious and looks fab to me. What a long way you've come since your first post! How exciting!

Many thanks, Carolina and Jonathan. Not sure if light grey or white colour for the worktop is better. Is it good matching to use icy blue for the cabinet with the tiles?

If you can, hold samples together. Colours are difficult to judge from photos on screen.
