Hi All, We are currently having an extension and taking the kitchen to the back off the house which will serve as a kitchen diner. We have gone for a U-shaped handles kitchen at one end off the room in Cashmere gloss and opted for a worktop in driftwood which will also be a splashback/tekwall. we also have full height units at the back with fridge and freezer. the remaining space will serve as a diner. I am considering tile flooring with a unfinished wood effect but am not too sure which colour to go for or which colour would compliment the kitchen design we have chosen. the walls is another aspect I'm struggling on, should I add a pop off colour or stay neutral. I am open to any ideas on floor)/ wall colour/ kitchen advice. also, if you need any more information on details drop a message. thanks for all your help. (I have attached units/worktop colour from the suppliers website but may not be entirely accurate due to lighting)

Hi there, been following your progress with interest. It’s really coming together now. For paint colours I would do as Colourhappy suggested in your other post and paint it all white to begin with. You can get bare plaster paint from diy shops buts it’s basically watered down emulsion. Get the flooring in first as this will have an impact on colours. From there if it looks or feels cold then I’d go for a neutral with a green undertone as I always think this looks good in dark spaces and under artificial light. Off the top of my head F&B shaded white and slightly deeper old white, Little Greene French gray and possibly Acre might look good. Get a few testers tho and remember you can always get them colour matched at Valspar or trade decorating centres. Might not be your bag but i did a little mood board, chairs and furniture in a raw rustic wood would also look equally good.

If those kitchen units are sound it appears they suit the character of the building. It seems a shame to plan on ripping them out. If anything it is the colour of them that is wrong. I would find a tile that I loved and do all the splashback up to the wall cupboards including the cooker back and remove the little upstand from the worksurface too. Get the units professionally repainted to compliment the tiling. Dispense with the roller blind and maybe get a painted wooden venetian then get a large rug to make it all feel more cosy. A bit more than a paint job but a lot less disruptive than a whole new kitchen.
