help! kitchen needs some colour

The kitchen extension is now finished and we’ve just gone for plain old white paint until we knew how much light came in (lots!), what colour scheme would work with the dove grey gloss kitchen and to work out what to do with the huge long wall. I think we’ve just run out of creative steam and can’t make decisions anymore, all I know is I don’t want a blank canvas anymore.
The rug and chairs are on the list of what needs to be changed, am thinking of eames style chairs. Any suggestions would really be appreciated. Thanks

Comments (16)Hi. I agree with jacksplash and Man About the House - hopefully OnePlan will find you, because I'm worried about your layout. Some of the figures are difficult for me to read on your floor plan but I'm thinking about all the doors and where they lead and the traffic flow of people. Is there room to get around things, especially, say if the fridge door is open? Can someone get by or do they walk in front of the oven? If someone's cooking, is there room? If someone is at the sink, can another person walk by? If people are sitting at the new rectangular dining table, can you get passed to that side door, the double doors, or the door to the stairs? With the big fridge in that spot I'd do a practice and erect cardboard boxes that equal the depth of the fridge and more that represent the island and see if there really is room for it all. Comments (10)It’s a lovely room but due to the number of doors it doesn’t feel quite like a room in its own right. I might consider painting the doors in the wall colour which will help enormously (you could also add curtains), As celery girl said I think a large rug where the front feet of the furniture sit on the rug will also have the same effect and also agree re the plant and art. I would add an accent colour and bring in both texture and pattern. I think the room would also benefit from a floor lamp and table lamp/s to cosy it up. It’s hard to make shopping suggestions as you’re not in the uk but perhaps post things you find for comment? Comments (46)Today, I got out all my F&B sample pots and painted those on cards. There are too many to list but around 7 colours in the grey/greige family. However to my surprise there is a company near me that does the full range of Little Greene Paints! I went to take a look through their samples and came up with these neutral/greys. I took a floor tile with me which the samples are sitting on top of in the picture. After looking through them all I decided to buy Slaked Lime 105, Slaked Lime Dark 151 and Rolling Fog 143 to paint on cards at home and put them in different areas of the room, against cupboards and furniture etc. One of the colours appear to blend best with the floor and the other blends better with the worktop...which is the best option? I’m guessing the floor? Also, if I tried the darker shade of either colour on one wall, for the lighter neutral walls should I use the same colour but the lighter version of the colour Example - Rolling Fog143 (darker wall) then Rolling Fog Pale158?...See MoreHi, need some help with colour choice please for furnishings etc
Comments (6)I would suggest leaving the green scheme in situ at the moment as it think i see green flecks in your material swatch. Going blue in wall, curtains, and furniture, althought it seems coordinated, might end up being too matchy matchy in real life. It has a masculine/slightly industrial feel. Is that the look you were going for? I really like it, but personally feel the dining room table and chairs don't work. I love the idea of a gallery wall. I'd also look to add some different textures with different chairs, plants, and perhaps a shelf on the wall too?
8 years agoI’d agree, possibly a feature wall on the wall with the radiator, change the table and chairs and also the tights over the bench from steel to 3 separate pendant shades, gold Tom Dixon mirror balls or something like that which will ad a bit of wow :-)
