I would change all the fixtures to oil rubbed bronze. (shower head, faucets, etc. Something with a more modern shape to them. I would also replace the towel racks with multiple smaller racks or a line of hooks and add oil rubbed bronze over the toilet. If you must have a plant, place it on a shelf instead of having it hang over someone's head. I would also remove all the wall tiles. They look very dated and replace only the ones in the shower and around the but with something that compliments the floor, perhaps a dark brown with golden undertones in a large subway tile shape. I'd also paint he walls the same color as the floor tiles but 2 shades lighter. Change the window treatment to blinds. Add an interesting mirror over the sink that either has dark wood from or preferably no frame at all with a light on either side. Something with dangling crystals and oil rubbed bronze.

We're just completing a commercial project where we saved the client considerable time and money on removal of existing tiles by overlaying with Amtico wood-effect vinyl. It's approx. 6mm thick, looks great (apologies for the mess in the photo!) and can be specified with enhanced slip-resistance. Perhaps worth looking into?

I can't imagine 2 different wood floors looking good next to each other, to be honest. I had that situation in a previous house (not my choosing) and it always really annoyed me. If the budget can stretch, could you replace all the downstairs flooring with the engineered board of choice? I know stripped floorboards look good, but they're horrible to live with, so you might benefit there?

Hi, it really does depend on the reclamation yard some are much better than others, I would have a look at a few and dont buy doors which have been sitting outside. I can't see if you have said where you are but just as an example somewhere like Frome reclamation is great, Karl has a fantastic range of doors stripped, labeled with size marked on and ordered by style all ready to go https://www.fromerec.co.uk/reclamation/doors page 6 has Victorian/ Edwardian doors . Also as E D has said have a look on ebay as you never know what might be near you and a good few yards also sell on there. The other thing to watch is that if you do find the perfect doors leave them in the house for a while before hanging and painting to ensure they acclimatize to the humidity and temperature of your home, this may sound like a pain but it will reduce any potential for cracking or shrinkage. Good luck hunting, it is definitely worth it as the house will always look right with the correct doors.
