Need help with open plan kitche/living/dining layout...
Comments (76)Hi jonathandb1972, yes our architect suggested and prefers accessing the ensuite via the changing room too, but I'm not convinced. It will reduce usable wall space in the changing room and walking through one room to get to another just feels wrong (if you know what I mean!)....See MoreMaximizing a long, narrow open plan kitchen/dining/living space
Comments (4)Hi Jennifer The plan hasn't attached - could you please possibly upload this again in the comment section so I can take a look for you? :) I have two little boys so I can fully understand the play area section - my two have always followed me around so anywhere and everywhere becomes a play area! It is very hard to contain toddlers to be creative in just one area so I can only imagine making sure the open plan space is family friendly as well as useable for everyone is without a doubt a high priority. Looking forward to seeing the developer image. Charlie @ The Kitchen Lady UK www.thekitchenladyuk.co.uk...See MoreHelp for open plan ideas
Comments (8)Hi Jess, you haven’t given an indication of budget restraints or family needs etc so this is a basic layout sketch keeping a lot of the current structure in place to reduce costs. If you have a large budget then it is easier to start removing even more structure from the current layout. A 4metre extension at the back should give you space for kitchen, dining and living in one space then utilise the current dining room as a snug, play space or office depending on your needs. Costs will also accelerate depending on the amount of glass you incorporate into the extension either through bifold/sliders or roof lights. If this was my house I would try to create a line of sight from front door straight through to garden using glass doors in the hallway. Good luck with the project...See MoreFurniture layout dilemma for open plan living/dining/kitchen
Comments (7)Hi Becky, I would suggest getting a professional on board. As mentioned above it is important to get to know your likes and dislikes and then build up what you require within the space you have (with your existing items). Interior designers and concept planners can definitely help with this so it is worth doing some research into it and the costs. Like us, there are many that can offer 3D plans and videos as part of the basic packages so you can see how the space works and feels to navigate - rather than always trying to work it out from 2D's. We also offer three options as a standard, so this is often a good place to start and get to understand how your space works by seeing it in a variety of scenarios. It helps to ensure you get it right first time :) which is really important when embarking on a project this size. I hope it helps. Do keep us posted on how you get on and what you end up with as it's great to follow to journey. Best, Gina...See MoreAmelia Wilson
