Push your dining table up by the built in seating leaving room for a small sofa and possibly one modern feature chair. At meal times, they can sit at the built in seating as it will make them higher up at the table. Define the 'lounge' area with a rug. Keep the children's area over by the shelving and have a small low desk area included in the shelving system for them to sit at which would remove the need for kids table and chairs.

The breeze block stage can be very deceptive. I think you will find that your finished room feels bigger when finished than it does now. I would suggest that If you have the right lighting plan your end result will be fine. Otherwise reflective surfaces and mirrors will help distribute the natural light around the space. A 12 seater table sounds big. Does it extend or will you always have it set up for 12?

Hi Sofaiza, It sounds like you have done great so far and have a great space. Well done. I have just completed a kitchen design with what sounds like exactly the same kitchen units. We went for a speckled white worktop which worked really well. We then chose a light grey with a hint of blue for the walls - this is modern and fresh and works well with the white gloss and with the silvers or whites that may appear elsewhere in the kitchen. What flooring have you gone for? For a contrast Black worktop went well and was considered for the same project I mentioned. For the features walls the tiles sound intriguing but I would need to see them to get a better idea or know if they would work with the design. Sounds good though. I meant that you had drawn a run of units that was 20’ long and you could likely get a great kitchen into a smaller space, leaving room for dining. Attaching a dining table to the island is a stylish look and often helps people with insufficient room. Personally though I would prefer the flexibility of a freestanding table that you can extend.
