Kitchen flooring and worktop

I have a white gloss kitchen with walnut flooring and a walnut worktop but we are considering changing worktop to egger grey or white with grey through it but can’t decide on the flooring. We are considering cream ‘partchment Is the colour of floor tiles but worried it won’t go with white. I think white floor tiles will be too cold and worry that grey will go out in a few years and it’s a big job to have to do it again as it’s a kitchen diner So quite a large room.

We are putting cream tiles in our hallway so was considering doing

it all the way through.

If you are changing hallway its always good for consistency and flow to follow through. If you are set on cream tiles not easiest to keep clean but would suggest a cream perhaps granite or caser stone work surface work surface so nice neutral palette you could then easily change paint colours and accessories as and when. Mirror splash backs look great and really open up the space and adding atmosphere if kitchen diner and you have under cabinet lighting? They also come in various shades and finishes i.e. bronze, antique etc. look really good we have used before completely transforms the room. Good luck!

That walnut floor is beautiful! I think if you change the worktop and flooring to a white scheme it can look wish washy. I would change the worktop but keep that gorgeous floor.

Hi, your kitchen looks beautiful! came across threads as we too are currently debating diy kitchens cashmere or light grey, we have ordered cashmere and started to have doubts that it would be too dark. Though looking at yours I'm reassured again! I just wondered what wood worktop/and poss stain you have chosen? We looked at a solid wood oak but i thought it looked a bit yellowy. Hi Cake lady thanks for your comment. I have considered the wood effect tiles. However the kitchen adjoins a hall which has an oak laminate floor. I'm concerned the two different types of wood will clash. what do you think? Good to know they're low maintenance. I'm steering well away from gloss tiles as spent years trying to keep black gloss tiles clean in our bathroom. Finally replaced last year !

Hi, We are finally renovating our kitchen and would like some advice about installing 2 different types of kitchen worktops: granite and wood. We have a smallish J-shaped kitchen and with a separate laundry room which houses the fridge/freezer and washing machine. The style is classical/country cabinet doors in cream/mushroom colour and neutral walls. We have Moroccan style tiles which we installed when we first moved in to brighten up the kitchen, and we would like to retain these (picture included). For cost efficiency, we are considering brown or cream (can’t decide colour!) granite worktops across where the hob and sink will be situated and a dark wood across the 3rd worktop (sample plan attached). Most of the pictures of mix and match countertops on houzz/Pinterest etc seem to involve an island Or breakfast bar, neither of which we have enough space for. Thus would like your feedback on: Will differing worktops work or do they appear too disjointed in a smaller kitchen Advice on granite/quartz worktop colours that will work with the floor tiles. also any advice re: colour scheme for walls/splashback/cabinetry hardware/tiles would be appreciated. most of my kitchen toys ie food processor/kettle/toasrer are grey/black, and the hob/oven/microwave are likely to be grey/black so doesn’t really match with a traditional/country style kitchen! I always like white units and wood, so great that the floor is wood so you could add more wood with shelving and chopping boards. Pic below. Or a mid grey can look nice like the second pic which is Dulux Chic Shadow.

Seems a shame to get rid of the floor - it looks stunning. Cream tiles in a high footfall area like a kitchen can be very high maintenance and may just wash everything out. Suggest keeping the floor and changing the worktop to something with brown tones in to work with the floor and tie everything together; Sensa Granite in Bianco Antico is stunning looks like it might blend well. Or Silestone Quartz in Eternal Emperador, Iron Bark, Merope, Noka, Coral Clay or Rougui...pleanty to choose from! The bespoke shelf in this pantry unit is Bianco Antico - it tones well with many cabinet colours...

Also, if you change the floor to cream tiles (I assume you won't be temporarily removing the cabinets to accommodate new floor laying) they won't run wall to wall under the cabinets which could make a future kitchen redesign in terms of layout tricky as the flooring under the current cabinets won't match... : (
