Toughened vs non-toughened have been a dilemma for kitchen owners for a while. The objective truth is that yes toughened glass is stronger and heat resistant, but due to significant price difference sometimes it makes sense to take risk and just replace mirror in case of breakage, which will still be cheaper than buying full toughened from the beginning, especially taking in consideration that non-tgh antique is stock product and you don’t need to wait for 2-3 weeks for production. If you are looking for simple coloured or printed glass, then definitely go for toughened since price difference is insignificant and it’s not only safer and heat resistant, but also 4-5 times stronger to impact which is good against accidental hits. The other important fact is that broken mirror can bring you bad luck for 7 years!:) so only choose professionals for your installation. Antiqued glass? Be aware that it is really low chance that the antiqued mirror splashback will be toughened. Most of the companies cannot replicate the antique mirror on a toughened glass, so make sure to get the written confirmation from the company that the splashback is toughened. If it is not, then it will not last longer than 2 weeks, to be honest, it is too easy to smash it accidentally with a pan. I only have one piece left 600 x 750 mm. This is standard splashback size for a stnadard hob. I stuck it on using adhesive from thegluepeople which was really easy. It’s stainless steel which is PVD coated and then polished to mirror. There’s no glass. Companies do make them but all the quotes were ~£1500+. I sourced my metal online then found a local laser company to cut it. There are a few companies that do coated stainless steel and they come in all sorts of finishes and colours. It was a nightmare job templating it ourselves with the sockets, the measurements have to be exactly right. If you’ve got a standard size hob you can buy my piece but if you want it to go all the way round you’ll have to get it bespokely made like we did. the Material cost of 750 x 600 mm equates to £150 so I was hoping to get around that much for it.

I am building a small but stylish (I hope) kitchenette alcove using Naked Kitchen cabinets and a corian worktop with integrated sink. I want to run a copper or mirrored worktop around the alcove which will have to incorporate slots for electric sockets. Does anyone have ideas for good outlets? We're in London. Thanks!
