Bathroom, potential damp issues
Comments (4)Thanks guys. E D, I don't have a dehumidifier nor any idea how long it would take to dry a wall in a humid environment (assuming it would be kept ventilated). It's a question I've asked myself but I guess how long is a piece of strong. We had an industrial dehumidifer in our own house for 2 weeks, it was amazing (not in a good way) what came out! However having said that, Jonathan I assumed you'd be happy water hadn't penetrated the brick if it wasn't visible on the plaster? The last photo I saw just showed peeling paint but that was some time ago. My concern was obviously putting an impermeable (or nearly) tile over a potentially damp wall and making it worse...See MoreVictorian Basement - Damp issues?
Comments (1)You can realistically only use this as a proper room if you have it tanked. I think the advice and quote you have had from the basement specialist is the same advice you will get from any builder looking at it....See MoreCombined shower room and dressing room, any damp issues
Comments (0)Now decided to two storey extension. Majority 1st floor extension over existing ground extension. The rest is brand new double storey extension. Having spoken to architect, it looks that it's common to have an en suite in the new bedroom 3, given it will be much larger. However, my other half strongly dislikes ensuite in bedrooms, due to concerns on privacy, smell, noise and damp. So now considering to add a shower room in bedroom 4 (dressing room). It will be a long and narrow room. For the moment, thinking about keeping dressing room on near end and shower room at the far end. Our concern on damp is still here. Would add extra windows much improve? Thanks Thanks...See MoreHELP NEEDED Basement flat with rising damp issues
Comments (7)Batit (with a 't') - their site is Batitprotect.be. no we did not a separate builder, they did all the plaster work. We got a decorator later to repaint (treatment usually needs several months after for walls to dry out). Have not attacked the kitchen yet, but luckily is upstairs. Next year's project!...See MoreChris Goodchild
