Small windowless kitchen layout help please.
Comments (16)Thank you for the answers. What is the length of the wall separating the kitchen and the hall? She could possibly put the fridge next (under) to your current X and put some over the counter storage (larder/appliances store) where the X is... With the boxing of the fridge lining up with the door wall, she can then put a small dresser/sideboard in front of that full width, next to the door. Those two combined should add a good amount of storage. If this works but she still thinks she needs more storage, or if the dimensions don't fit, then a U shape kitchen indeed, but don't make the new length go too far... you want to be able to get in an out of the kitchen space easily! Add a table against it as Minnie and Jen P suggest, possibly with a built-in bench (with storage inside) against the left wall... The joinery could even continue all the way down to the window wall as bookshelves or any other type of storage... Good plan to play with an existing sofa for now. Stainless steel sinks are ok, hopefully it will be an undermount. These decisions are pretty daunting I know but also very exciting!...See MoreHelp required please!
Comments (16)I really like the wall tiles, so let's start with the good bit. The floor could have been better as it competes with the wall, and I think you could have chosen a better tile, also, ones the same size as the tiles on the walls so that the grout lines could have married up. It's unlikely the floor could have been laid better as no rooms are square and you would have had cuts getting bigger on one of the walls, it's a shame that it happens to be the wall that you see the most of. ( If that's what you think is wrong with it. I agree the finish isn't great and the biggest problem I feel is the shower tray and terrible mastic around it. I would hide more of the floor by putting in a larger, lower profile tray end to end to make it look a lot more up market. It will take your eye away from the size of the floor tiles too, as there won't be so many of them. I would also paint the door as it just doesn't look right in white. If I were going to all that trouble, with the tray, then I would take up the floor tiles and use the wall tiles for the floor too. You could keep the glass the same size but definitely improve the tray. Here's one i've just finished....See MoreKitchen flooring choice, help please
Comments (20)Hi Ellie, the tiles are Minoli Stelvio walnut glazed porcelain. She got them from my stepson-in-laws tile shop Apex Grange in Welwyn Garden City, but there are other suppliers of course. My sister is rather flattered! She even had a neighbour asking who supplied her new front colour..........I can only bask in her glory :-)...See Moreplease help with new kitchen diner layout!
Comments (7)Thanks for the replies. There is only 3 of us but we do use the dining table every day. Our current one won’t fit, so intend to buy an extending one when we move in. I did think about the under stairs cupboard, but it slopes and we need to keep school bags etc somewhere tidy! I was hoping to put the dining table in the breakfast area, the owners now have a round one in there along with a side board, so hopefully should fit. Thanks Jonathan, never thought of putting it that way! Will look into this...See Morefclarkson
