OnePlan: Hi, thanks so much for answering!! Yes, I was thinking so too, other ideas have been candles and low watt bulbs for lamps. No furniture ordered, no specific bed needed apart from no high beds. Budget, eh, sort of, but no specific idea, we aren't minted that's for sure! I would *love* a chair, an arm chair, next to the wardrobe [in the corner] but every chair I've put into the plan has really taken a large chunk out of the room. No TV, I use my laptop for everything. Dog does sleep on the bed, he's black and white [possibly the worst combo eh!] and he's a Springer, so not a huge malter, lighter bedding would probably be sensible. Absolutely fine! I didn't want to ramble in my original post but knew there were so many questions to answer. For the single wardrobe, I was thinking mirrored. For the chest of drawers, white I think, I've been looking on eBay for that. I love the chest of drawers I've attached a picture of. Would a taupe look too dark on my walls? If you mean placing the chest of drawers at the bottom of my bed, then it wouldn't fit due to the depth, if you mean across the room next to the wardrobe, then that was a space I was planning on leaving free for a possible chair. I was thinking of keeping the walls fairly neutral so that if I ever want to change the colour scheme, I can do. I was thinking perhaps taupe, do you think that would be too dark? I love your colour scheme suggestion though! If anyone has any suggestions on where I could get a chest of drawers similar to the one below, that would be fantastic.

Hello Yan, wanted to show you an idea of colour scheme for your bathroom. I decided to keep up with your layout idea and I noticed you like grey and wood in interior. In addition, SA contemporary style isn't much about colours but more about textures to keep interior simple and rich. In general, interior is neutral with couple of small colour accents, which can be easily updated or changed in time. There is no drama that sink in front of window! Moreover it gives fantastic advantages to use natural light. You can hang oval mirror at the window frame. In the evening hours, you can use illumination from wall light above window. Flooring is grey brushed concrete tiles with soft matt texture. Wood like porcelain tiles use for walls from the left and right, including curves. That's how you unite broken wall on a left and make it longer and identical. Tiles for walls around window and the opposite side ( including all curves and around door) should be the same - light grey with stone like texture. Grey tone on walls is lighter than on a floor. I would suggest Timeless, or even White Mist for this. Although this may seem like a large amount of grey, your beautiful large ceilings and remaining walls will be in your chosen off-white colour, which will retain a light and airy feel. I think that you are right to keep the walls which have windows as the off-white, as it will allow the lovely grey frames to stand out. Hello Fiona, It looks like you have a place which could be nice with a little care. In answer to your questions: As many coats as it takes. Paint a coat, look at it when it's dry, if you can still see the paint underneath it needs another coat. Usually 2-3 coats are needed but more for covering really bright colours like that small patch of purple in the living room. I can't suggest a specific brand for another country. A folding screen / room divider would definitely work without causing problems. They are not difficult to make or you can buy one. You absolutely should not surround it on all sides without checking what it is and how much airflow it needs. Probably treated wood for outside furniture. Plastic is cheaper but doesn't look that good and can risk being blown off the terrace in high winds. Metal is more expensive and more likely to get stolen if there's a chance of that. Maybe look out for second hand stuff? Floor lamps would be the obvious choice for light. You can get cheap ones from somewhere like IKEA or again maybe second hand. This is the biggest problem you've listed. Here in the UK the laws for renting say bathrooms and kitchens need extractor fans. Perhaps check if there's a similar law there? If there isn't, you can ask the landlord if you can fit one and if you're lucky bargain for them to pay part of the cost. They are not that expensive. You probably won't convince them to help you. Those look like the remains of roots from ivy or something similar, and might be hard to get off. You could probably rent a pressure washer and do that wall and the terrace at the same time. A couple of notes on paint: - You don't need washable paint for every wall. The hall will need it, and the kitchen and bathroom (or special kitchen/bathroom paints, definitely try to get that for the bathroom) - Yes white is the cheapest colour to buy though Magnolia (yuck!) is as cheap here. White is also the worst colour to paint with as you get 'snow blind' and can't tell what you've already painted. White can also look quite cold. One thing you can do is have a painting/decorating party with your friends. You supply plenty of food and drink and they spend a few hours painting. You can get a lot done in a short time this way and it's quite fun to do. It's a lot less daunting than trying to do it all yourself.
