Maybe they missunderstood - and fear for your safety ?! I've used local couriers in mainland Spain before. They collect and deliver to/from UK /Spain - but not used anyone in the islands - might be worth looking into someone / a company that provides that service and buy exactly what you want here and transport it this way ?!
