Design Dilemma Storage

Storage ideas...help

We have just had our stairs done and at time the space seemed like a great idea to put a plant. We, then realised some of sort storage would be good. Perhaps a cabinet which impossible to find or do we get a carpenter in? Help please!

Hmm its hard to say, would a cabinet there impede traffic ? To be honest I would stick with the plant..

What's the overall size and can you take a picture from further out? to better see traffic flow?

It's exactly 36cms wide. I guess it would get in the way of traffic. We did think of painting a bedside unit and putting it there with some pictures above.

No - you posted a great thread ! It looks a lovely light room - the design is balanced and looks attractive ! Have you chosen your range cooker yet ? Some have specific guides to how close the chimney can or can't be and some have guides about items projecting over them too - Worth checking before you order anything ! English revival do a glass sided wall cabinet that might work well in the top right wall unit - might be worth upgrading to that range for your two glass cabinets, as its part of the same company so most dealers would be able to offer this I imagine. That way you will get a bit more light through . Position your window blind /Romans etc higher than the window so most of the fabric sits against the wall not covering the window blocking the light !

You might be pleasantly surprised how different it will look when you change the wall colour. Perhaps if you didn't that first, you'd not need to change the grout. I'd agree; if the tiles aren't symmetrical then a darker grout line would highlight this. I'd also agree that dark grey would look great - you have this in your floor mats and it looks nice against your gorgeous floor tiles. We went grey in our ensuite. Hubby was concerned it would be dark, but we love it. Worst case - if you change your mind, paint is an easy swap. Good luck ;)

Hi Emma, I noticed you are seeking advice on your kitchen extension, and I would love to know more about how you would use the space. Looking from your basic drawing I personally would have your dining table parallel to your kitchen island so it’s a smoother transition from your living space. You could consider a built-in bespoke banquette seating so it doesn’t take as much space and would look really smart (size and space depending). Hannah W yes the blocked wall was double doors, part glazed. I couldnt tell you a cost I’m afraid as my husband blocked up the wall, he’s not a professional (we can see the outline on the other side 😁) but it didn’t take too long and was just a case of some stud work, plasterboard and plastering (my husband can plaster too as he did a course years ago to cut down labour costs rather than have tradesmen in).

I would much prefer to see some shelving on that wall, they would be more impactful and at eye level so you could have pictures and actually see them. You can also have nice baskets that will help you corral all of those things that gather at the bottom of the stairs to be taken up. I dont think a unit will work or give you the impact you are looking for.
