Price for tiling a kitchen splashback?
Comments (6)Hello, I do not think this sounds too out of the way. I know it does not seem a lot of tiling but this sort of work (based on a brick pattern) would take a tiler 2 days. So a brick pattern at £350 (which I am presuming includes VAT?) if you break this down in to a day rate it is £175/day which does sound about right to me. Especially if they are providing grout and adhesive!? The herringbone style will obviously will take longer to do and to me the £650 might seem a little steep but you have got to bear in mind how long it will take and maybe the tiler is not a fan of doing it which is why he is charging more!! If he is a good tiler and you have already seen some of his work then to me it is worth paying that little bit more....See MoreHelp! Kitchen splashback ideas
Comments (14)Thank you all for the very helpful suggestions. I've ordered some samples: https://tileweb.co.uk/globe-25x75-gris-gloss-glazed-ceramic-tile.html and https://tileweb.co.uk/globe-25x75-blanco-gloss-glazed-ceramic-tile.html Both are gloss and tend to reflect the light, these 2 tiles were picked mainly for their pattern and size at 25x75 to cover the overall 48cm height of the splashback, I'll see how they look like with my layout. I also liked the splashback of the first picture sent by Sonia, which company was that from? As Lynn suggested, a darker silver grey colour or any darker grout matching the same tile, or even no grout at all would be my choice. For now, I wish you all a Happy new year. Thank you again :) Fab...See MoreGalley Kitchen splashback height?
Comments (9)@jenny dempsey I do like the idea of a continuous flow of cupboards too :) But was thinking of maybe a shorter one continuing from the top of the cupboards with a glass door if I can reach it (i'm quite short in height haha) I just have too many ideas i like and bad at making decisions, so hopefully when I get the tiles done, I'll have a better idea of what to put up there XD Thank you for your help and answers!...See MoreKitchen splash-back tiling dilemma
Comments (4)I agree with the builder, that work is shoddy and unprofessional and I would not be happy looking at that in my kitchen. It looks like a DIYer has completed it. In fact I call it a HUTH house! When I watch Homes Under the Hammer, often people buy a house and either do the work themselves or get their mates to refurbish and lots of them end up looking poorly finished for the low end rental market. Any chance that you could ask him to remedy the work though unlikely as you’ve already paid for it. Really sorry that this work was completed in this poor way....See MoreAluSplash
