Kitchen splashback?

hi, I need a splashback between the wall units and the worktop (the middle missing part is where the angled extractor fan will go). Which do you think will be better- a glass splashback or mosaic tiles?

Comments (10)Yes Jonathan, the upstand was essential, as long lengths of Alusplash are only available in 2 widths based on the usual worktop / wall unit gap most people have. I decided early on in the deign process to have my wall units set higher than usual so there is no step up to extractor level. Even the wider width wouldn't quite span this distance hence the quartz upstand. I know it's not usual to have an upstand as well as a backsplash but I actually like the way the upstand visually widens the worktop. There's actually a vertical join in the Alusplash in the window section but i defy anyone to find it......See MoreKitchen splashback dilemma...
Comments (15)This is ours, standard upstand and large piece of quartz behind the cooker. In hindsight, and if budget allowed, we would have the upstand higher up like your image, perhaps to the bottom of our wall cupboards. We find the cooker splashed onto the paint as does the sink. We used the same paint as we have elsewhere in the house which you can normally wipe down but for some reason the finish on the kitchen means we have real trouble doing this, so we’ll have to repaint periodically....See MoreGalley Kitchen splashback height?
Comments (9)@jenny dempsey I do like the idea of a continuous flow of cupboards too :) But was thinking of maybe a shorter one continuing from the top of the cupboards with a glass door if I can reach it (i'm quite short in height haha) I just have too many ideas i like and bad at making decisions, so hopefully when I get the tiles done, I'll have a better idea of what to put up there XD Thank you for your help and answers!...See MoreKitchen splash-back tiling dilemma
Comments (4)I agree with the builder, that work is shoddy and unprofessional and I would not be happy looking at that in my kitchen. It looks like a DIYer has completed it. In fact I call it a HUTH house! When I watch Homes Under the Hammer, often people buy a house and either do the work themselves or get their mates to refurbish and lots of them end up looking poorly finished for the low end rental market. Any chance that you could ask him to remedy the work though unlikely as you’ve already paid for it. Really sorry that this work was completed in this poor way....See More
