I find that if you are using different colors in different rooms, that it helps if they are harmonious. Using a color wheel- many available online- find colors that are complementary or analogous to each other. Also using the same tones in different colors helps. For example, don't use a pale pastel in one room adjacent to a bold color.

If you are doing Hague in one room then that's great you can have the rooms tie in with the door choice, the colour or the skirting etc and of course by the style. The other rooms sound neutral so it will be great to have that pop of colour. We recently recommended the Hague blue to a client - picture attached - in the north facing guest bedroom too. You can really afford to do something stunning. The rest of this clients house is whites and grey so the blue tied in nicely. We picked it out of the kitchen units where we have gone for Como Blue. If you want to lighten the blue room then use crisp white linen and touches like the skirting boards with adding plenty of texture and visual interest in soft furnishings. I find that the biggest struggle people have when designing an open plan space is where to put the TV. I get people come to me for my help to redesign their open plan space, because it doesn't work, and the reason is usually because the TV is in the wrong place. You can watch it on my youtube channel here: https://youtu.be/lUZaehO7Xfk Another key thing to consider is your movement through the space, I haven't yet done a video about this, but basically: - get out your floor plan - put a dot in the centre of each door and at each point in the room that you will go to frequently - draw lines between those dots to show typical movement patterns - look at the spaces they cross and the spaces that are left empty - think about how your furniture fits around those lines - think about if you moved a door or a feature that you need to go to frequently, would this change the movement lines and help with your furniture positioning Hope this helps, Jane, i-architect.co.uk

For what it's worth, I would redesign the full downstairs floor plan, assess what are load bearing walls and where possible remove and reconfigure the plan.
