Strong paint colours from room to room

I'm going to paint out north facing bedroom in F&B Hague blue. But we also have another north-facing guest bedroom next door to it & my daughters' south-facing bedroom all off a landing painted in F&B Dorset Cream. I quite like the Dorset Cream as it's sunny & ties with downstairs where we have Babouche & London Clay in our living room.

But i think Hague Blue is a bit heavy for a guest room and would like something brighter I think for the girls' room. Any ideas?

If you've used a strong colour in one room, have you used lighter shades in other rooms, tried to match it or just taken each room as it comes? Not sure if I want the whole of upstairs blue, though I do love the Hague. Maybe I need o ditch the Dorset Cream? Any advice much appreciated.

If you are doing Hague in one room then that's great you can have the rooms tie in with the door choice, the colour or the skirting etc and of course by the style.

The other rooms sound neutral so it will be great to have that pop of colour. We recently recommended the Hague blue to a client - picture attached - in the north facing guest bedroom too. You can really afford to do something stunning. The rest of this clients house is whites and grey so the blue tied in nicely. We picked it out of the kitchen units where we have gone for Como Blue.

If you want to lighten the blue room then use crisp white linen and touches like the skirting boards with adding plenty of texture and visual interest in soft furnishings.

I look forward to seeing the finished room.

Yes utter madness, we really had to fight with the council to let us uncover the fireplace as they wanted the room to tell the story through the eras! I've stuck with the f & b colour chart as there are so many on little Greene that I get confused! But yes has to be limewash, but open to other suggestions. There are 3 doors in to the room. The one next to the fireplace won't be used as that goes next door but the 2 either side of the panelling will. We're trying to find the budget for oak door to match in as closely as possible but the 'originals' are pine that were painted so have been dipped and have come out well but are still going to look odd I think next to the oak.

Thanks Colour Happy. Plasterer has been in already but only plastered where needed so I'm assuming that means we don't need to plaster behind wall paper (some of which had to be removed for the rewiring) and Painter seems happy enough to do remainder of filling/smoothing walls but thanks for the tip, I'll definitely check again with them. Re sisal, no dogs but small kids at home so need to stick to softer/more standard carpet!

Ha, funnily enough I tried some colours out on your walls in photoshop yesterday, which doesn't mean a thing, since it always looks different on screen, and I too thought that Ammonite worked well. Still, do try it out. Painted the skirting All White. Threw in some pattern with cushions, a framed poster will reflect light and is more interesting than a mirror (which loads of people use) and I thought that you could perhaps place a different cabinet for the TV along the wall next to the fireplace.

Its funny but I am liking the darker shades more and more. Always used to go for pastels but my tastes are evolving! The matchcards in your earlier pic, on the table, seem to be much lighter than the later pic with the fabric, not sure why. The middle colour, Paradise Found, seems to match the flower in the fabric very well so it would work. But I must be honest I love the two greeny blues more. They are very similar to Inchyra Blue by F&B. Would you go all over? I think with white shutters and white woodwork it would look stunning. Here’s a pic of Inchyra Blue so you can see how similar it is, but a little darker?
