Presumably you want to reference/ incorporate the colours in the tiles and so they look to be terracotta, gold, beige/ honey , black and white and the striking blue. The blue looks as if it is picked up in your door too but I can't tell what other colours are in the door. The terracotta could be hard to live with. Black is obviously black and perhaps too austere even for paintwork. The beige/ honey colour would be a good light shade and you could retain the off white in your feature dado and cornice. Farrow and Ball Pointing might be sympathetic. You could pick up on the blue and use a lighter shade, either through Dulux colour cards - the in store types on bookmark sized paper as they allow you to find your shade and then go lighter or darker in the same tone, or by using again Farrow and Ball or similar and looking at their family of colours near that deep shade. You have lots of interest in the floor and door so the walls don't need to work too hard.

Hi, We have a small coat room, we will block of the understairs, just leaving access to the pipework for the UFH. We have painted the kitchen diner in, F&B Manor House. Grey, and the lounge Valspar shrouded lace, still want to go grey, but not sure how to do it. Thanks

You actually have a great hallway. Not sure the ceiling lights will add much so do consider spotlights angled to highlight your artwork. This would not cost much using a standard radiator cover and get a glazing company to do as large a mirror as you can fit. You could easily go dark on the stairs as you seem to have good light. I would think about painting the door a lighter colour if you can. If not, consider painting the surrounding wall to match so it fades away. Consider replacing both units in the wider area with a decent shoe storage unit or consider getting one made. Alternatively, if you are on a small budget, paint that storage unit the same as the walls. Add a shelf to your other unit and use for shoes. You do need coat hanging space so how about that blank wall and just add a long coat rail.

I like Isla’s idea of shaded white as seen in the 1st pic. It depends on what light you get, i tried it in my living room and where it gets south light it looked like avocado flesh at certain times of the day! I’d do the skirtings in the same colour as the panelling and go lighter on the walls above. Have you also conisdered sisal or jute for a runner? Would tie in with your theme, perhaps with a green border? For a console I’d choose something which can have baskets underneath, and use terracotta etc for a lamp base with a linen shade to maximise different textures. I also love this olive by the front door (walls are also shaded white) I also like the idea of a rug as Sarah and Sonia have shown
