Help with bathroom layout needed please.
I would really appreciate some ideas on re-fitting this en-suite please. The first photo is the current plan and the second is the basic layout. Five photos are of the room currently (please excuse the clutter (the vanity is full of fiddly drawers and cupboards that nothing fits in). The final photo is one I´ve seen incorporating a bath into a shower enclosure.
I like having two basins, so would like to have that again.
The bath is never used. My OH would be happy not to have a bath, but I have reservations for the future for when the house eventually needs to be sold as it is the only bath in the house. I´m wondering whether to do away with it or go for something similar to the last photo. I´m worried though that it may make the room feel small.
Easy clean is a priority. I´m not a fan of lots of open shelving or fiddly things.
I would ideally like a larger shower than we have now.
I would like as much storage as possible.
The ceiling is very high and sloped as you can just about see above the shower. Here in Spain most bathrooms are fully tiled. Mine is currently tiled up to picture rail height and I´m thinking of doing the same again but without the horrid border. Open to other ideas though.
The floor tiles will probably stay. We have these throughout the house and although they wouldn´t be my choice they are very practical. I would like to change them in this room but I doubt we will be able to afford it and I would prefer to spend money on a smart loo (although my OH isn´t keen).
It would be great if a large heated towel rail would also fit in.
I like clinical looking shower rooms and white and pale grey with pops of colour in accessories.
This is going to be a large spend for us and it needs to last us a lifetime (nearing retirement age), so I really don´t want to make mistakes.
Any ideas would be much appreciated, thank you.

Comments (18)We are still working on our new house, there is currently a bath with a glass half screen that is totally useless. The water bounces off whoever is showering past the screen and over the toilet, the floor, the ceiling, and it's only a half tiled wall so the wallpaper is peeling. I've considered the P or d shaped baths which give a larger section at one end in which to stand when using the shower and I've seen there are matching curved glass screens to go with them. Two points to consider. 1. If you are not planning on staying a shower could be a good selling point, the water saving of a shower versus a bath. Our last bath hardly saw a look in during 16 years and although it was a lovely deep double ended steel bath it gathered dust and the shower was definately the go-to choice. 2. I am now considering the usability of the bathroom for an elderly relative who has had a stroke, likes baths, but may not be able to get into, or out of one, with dignity intact. I'm thinking that a large walk in shower with additional wall jets could be a good option and the upscale could be a wow factor. Comments (3)I know you said you don't want a mini basin in there (and if it's the room on the right of the plan, it looks like you have plenty of space), however, I wanted to point out that there are some really nice cloakroom size basins available. We had a v small space (about 1500 x 1700) and have fitted a toilet, bath and basin in it. Comments (3)I think that you need 70cm of knee room in front of your wc so I think designs 2&3 are all no go. Although I’m sure people will argue they prefer the wc to not be the first thing you see when you enter, in a small space you must make decisions based on convenience so for me design 4 is better but you should turn the basin onto the other wall to have more standing room....See More- PRO6 years ago

PRO6 years agoHi Marina, it’s a valid concern about keeping the bath. I would check other houses on the property listings and see if any have no bath. It might be ok in your area. Baths are typically popular in colder climates, I guess there is no much need for a bath in Spain. You could ask some local building companies and estate agents. If you decide to keep the bath, how about this layout? The bathroom is a very good size and proportions and you have lot of potential to make it a luxury room.
