I’m no expert, but there would be an awful lot of cutting of tiles around, say, the toilet and shower? As my bathroom was pretty small I chose vinyl in the end as much easier to lay in a small room.

Thanks for your reply! The toilet is wall mounted and the shower is in the tub, but I take your point! In our current bathroom we put the tiles down first to avoid having to cut them.

Just about to have our small bathroom refitted and I’ve been told that bigger tiles will make it seem bigger. I’m quite liking the 20x20 small patterned tiles and wondering if they will make it seem smaller and too busy.

The less grout, the bigger the tile, the more seamless and simple it will look. Get the growth the right colour though, it's really important.

What does growth of the colour mean?

I’d agree with colourhappy re the small grout lines with the large tiles, mine are 850x850 and the grout lines are 1mm, with regard the size of tiles, I like everything uniform and that means equal tile cuttings on each side, with larger tiles this could mean very large tiles and small side tiles which could look odd and lots of waste best get tiles to talk you through you best size tile, esp if the grout lines are going to be noticeable.

another thing is that a tile line can actually throw off you side cuts aswell, what I mean is, sometimes its not just a case of starting in the middle and working out, sometimes a tile run needs to be in a certain place as it dictates grout lines etc that mint clash with kick boards and between door ways being off center! Hope that makes sense.
