Comments (11)I guess it depends how often you use the garden… In the UK (with our delightful weather!!) I know my main entry to the kitchen will be via the main entrance not the garden! We are actually building a similar sized extension at the moment on our terraced house and we have opted to put the lounging area at the rear - and our kitchen designer had a different idea too! We chose to ignore them as we like to think that when we entertain we can use the garden and move the sofa around and make the indoor outdoor space very sociable. Also it means that the children have better access to the garden from the sofa and aren't running under your feet in the kitchen if they want to go outside (this was important to us as we have a toddler and one on the way, so we wanted to avoid hot water, hobs and skipping toddlers!). It is such a minefield, I feel your pain!!...See MoreKitchen and toilet decisions..
Comments (10)Realistically looking at that floor plan even if you were to remove the wall into the hall / downstairs toilet what are you likely to gain? This is the question I would ask myself you will still be left with roughly the same amount of space for the kitchen just with more doors and stair access all in one room. Therefore not being able to use the wall space for any kitchen units. Hope this makes sense. I agree with above comments that you would benefit more from knocking through into the lounge creating an open space. Would be happy to design the space showing you a kitchen in an open plan area if you were to send the measurements across. Kind Regards Schmidt Kitchens Loughton....See MoreKitchen layout (again...)
Comments (4)That sounds fine if it is not a walkway. The absolute minimum would be 800mm and the usual for a normal gap around an island is 900mm. 1000mm would be the standard for a slightly larger rooms or walk ways were you want to be opening things like dishwashers or ovens :)...See Morerinked
