Overboard heating versus underfloor heating

Does anyone have any experience using overboard heating? We know it will be less work and subsequently cost a little less than traditional underfloor heating but I’m just wondering what we are compromising by going for this option?

We actually did a bit of both. The existing house uses overboard and the new extension uses underfloor. the floor is all controlled by different zones so you eventually get the timing of it how you want! the underfloor takes much much longer to heat up but when it does it retains the heat for much longer. The overboard heats up quick,

is warm on the feet, but then cools down quicker too.

Hi All, I am hoping someone can help me!!!!!!! I recently painted my kitchen units in F&b Cornforth White. I am looking for a colour to compliment on the walls. I don't have a main wall as such i'm painting as going to feature brick effect paper...I have 2 large double sliding doors that open into the sitting room. I have testers of Worsted, but thinking it could be very dark. (the splashback will be coming down) i'm undecided on to go dark or light - plus painter coming tomorrow!!!! I agree with Hugh re supervision plus by the time the extension is built your son will be nearing an age where he understands a little more. You may also want him in there to cook with you soon. I'm sure the kitchen can be designed from a safety aspect too if that's the only thing holding you back. I think the advantage of using OnePlan is that Karen can look at the whole house spatially etc and you're not tied to a particular kitchen company (I'm not on commission!). Click on her profile for reviews etc. I second Hugh's comments re karndean too! I like the heringbone parquet! If you did want to hire an interior designer (designers tend to be qualified in planning too I think as opposed to an interior decorator although many of those could be qualified by experience) then you could find you save as much as you spend. Some of them will offer you their trade discount which if doing the whole house could add up to an awful lot. They may also make you save from any mistakes and I've made a few of those! I'd go on houzz and search for pros and look at their reviews and previous work. I think you need to meet people yourself though as it's important to have a good working relationship and make sure they understand you

Front hallway- I say save your money leave it up. Cost of removal is minor but you will likely have to move radiators and electrics and make good plasterwork and coving- I say protect another £1500 profit. Present the larger back reception as a living room and present the front reception as the dining room. Given that the bathroom is likely to go upstairs make the downstairs bathroom into a room to access the garden- I would present the kitchen as a kitchen/breakfast room with doors to see the garden as being able to see from the front door to the back garden should pay dividend.

Hello, Sounds like an exciting project! We would definitely recommend using porcelain tiles rather than ceramic, as ceramic tiles aren't frost proof so could shatter come winter, ruining all your hard work! A full bodied porcelain would be your best option, in a matt finish so it's not slippery. Porcelain is also suitable with underfloor heating, just ensure you use a flexible adhesive and grout. We have got porcelain flooring throughout. I love the heating system but in hindsight would probably have kept it all the same type! Probably overboard but I can understand the benefits of both. With the U.K. weather it’s just really hard to predict and put it on hours before in anticipation of when it’s going to get cold so the overboard feels a bit.

we used wundertrade and yes they pretty good! our builder installed it all though

good luck! Either way you won’t go wrong but just be aware of the change in behaviour and anticipating when the heating should go on. once you e for your thermostats figured out it’s great
